About Peter Apperley

I have worked in the energy sector for twenty five years, in senior management, commercial and technical roles for NZ’s leading solar companies, a major renewable electricity generator, electricity and gas distribution companies and a large engineering consultancy. The past fifteen years have been spent predominantly in renewable energy development roles including:– Leading a team of technical experts providing engineering, project governance and commercial support to a large portfolio of wind farm and hydro developments and five wind farm construction projects in NZ, Antarctica and Australia– Leading teams of engineers to develop a portfolio of solar farm development projects in Australia, US and the Pacific including responsibility for construction of three large solar projects in the Pacific Islands– Leading a large cross functional team to deliver mass market roll out of solar energy and storage services to NZ residential and commercial customers – Providing renewable energy consulting services including wind farm and solar feasibility assessments, wind farm operational performance reviews – Leading bids on renewable consulting projects, and detailed tender responses for solar and electricity reticulation projects – Developing procurement strategies for renewable projects including running tender processes and negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers– Undertaking strategic consulting on emerging renewable technologies, renewable energy option studies, and due diligence of potential business and asset acquisitions – Client and supplier relationship management including Aid agencies, utilities, electricity retailers, consulting clients, equipment suppliers– Stakeholder engagement on specific renewable projects including government agencies, regulators and landowners
