For 22 years, Peter was Technical Director and Principal Consultant for a small Limited Company, providing networking-related products, services and consultancy but specialising in Information Assurance for the Private and Public sectors, including Central HMG, NDPBs and the MoD.Peter undertook all consultancy projects without vendor bias, affording him the freedom to use and recommend appropriate technologies, software and hardware for any requirement.In all projects, Peter took the technical lead, and responsibility for teams of varying size (according to the client’s profile), acting as project manager and mentor, as well as involving himself directly in the technical aspects of the project. As a CESG Listed Adviser (CLAS Consultant), Peter was authorised and able to produce Risk Management and Accreditation Document Sets (RMADSs) for Government organisations, including the MoD, ready for accreditation of systems and connections. This service was frequently used in preparing Government clients for connection to the GSi (Government Secure intranet) or xGSi.Peter also provided technical training, and has run semi-formal courses for classes of varying size on TCP/IP and Penetration Testing. Clients of this service have included Private Sector, Public Sector and MoD.

Accreditor for the Statistical Research Environment, used for research into production of population statistics using administrative data sources (see http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/about-ons/who-ons-are/programmes-and-projects/beyond-2011/reports-and-publications/methods-and-policies-reports/beyond-2011-safeguarding-data-for-research-our-policy.pdf).Specified security requirements for reduction of sensitivity (through cryptographic hashing), responsible for liaison with senior stakeholders both internally and within Other Government Departments and Agencies, as well as through-life management of high risks relating to operational data holdings. Also key IA adviser to similar work across the Office, in particular where large quantities of sensitive and/or personal data are held and processed.

Acting as part of the Information Assurance team, directly advising (and acting on behalf of) Accreditors and SIRO, as well as providing technical, procedural and policy advice to projects, programmes and teams.
