About Peter Betti
Exploring avenues of Art and Science through professional and personal experience.I've a long work history in Retail Operations and Education. My work journey began when I was recruited by SURE to teach skateboarding in parts of Lower Manhattan. Once I graduated high school, I went right into college at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ and into the retail sphere at TJMaxx in Edgewater, NJ. At Bergen, I completed my pre-reqs and mostly studied topics related to Electrical Engineering. As an Associate at TJmaxx, I learned what it was like to work in a retail environment for nearly two years, reporting to several Assistant and General Managers. During this time I was still teaching skateboarding weekly and had left to pursue teaching skateboarding full time at the end of Summer 2015. During my last semester of BCC, I began working at Uncle Funky's Boards, a small business located in Greenwich Village Manhattan, as a Small Business Manager. There, I completed day to day management tasks, excelled in customer service, inventory upkeep, and visual merchandising. From a sales perspective, I contributed to over half a million in sales every year. It was rare that a day didn't go buy where I didn't sell a skateboard. During the pandemic, in 2020, I went back to school through SUNY Empire. Originally, I'd intended to set myself up to complete my Engineering studies, but realized, that I'd prefer to focus on Business, Management, and Economics. In 2020, I'd also contributed to Substance Skatepark. During this time, I supervised a team and operated the skatepark on a part-time basis up until Feb 2022. In August 2022, I'd worked their American Dream Mall pop up. In Fall 2021, I'd left SURE to pursue an education opportunity with Mobile Ed Productions. For 2 years, I'd taught STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, Math) through their museum program, where I'd also incorporated the mechanics of skateboarding, to K-8. During this time and also my last semester with SUNY, I'd left Uncle Funky in May 2023 to pursue Mobile Ed Full-Time. While working for Mobile Ed, I began working at Volcom NY in May 2023 where I am currently a Retail Supervisor. Additionally, I travel nationally with Mobile Ed and my own company, The Skateboard Storage Corp, through Sk84Life with several performers. I'm always eager to learn and connect!
