My passions lie in urban/transport planning, social equity, economics and how technology can empower and enhance our position in these topics. Having worked with and consulted blue chip corporates in improving and automating their processes, I now devote my career to applying the same expertise and innovation into public infrastructure appraisal. Improving accessibility to all segments of society is a proven recipe towards a more healthy and prosperous society. Urban design is therefore closely linked with transport and its positive or negative impact to a city's liveability. Beside learning from the best experts across the world at University College London and University of Amsterdam, I have also lived and studied in the best practice examples of liveable cities: Amsterdam, Vienna and the cycle-share pioneer Lyon. How these cities have embraced cycling is particularly interesting in their quest for improving liveability. On the other hand I also lived in London, Brussels, Budapest and Moscow - Cities lagging behind when it comes to equitable mobility. Transport seems to be an accurate measure of how participatory a society is, does it allow the poor, the young etc. to use public assets? Or should they rely on others to achieve their goals, even in such mundane tasks like moving from A to B.
