    The CSP Beta was an identity-based, many-device, multi-OS, multi-CPU-architecture, client-aware, developer services platform launched with 6 people in late 2011 and ultimately expanding to over 160 in 2013. The CSP team shipped its first 6 major releases with ~95% coherence to committed features per release while each release was always within 1 week of target delivery dates. In those releases the team delivered the foundation for a complete web platform consisting of over a dozen working RESTful/JSON APIs, including eCommerce/billing, SW updates, location, identity, context, recommendations, distributed computing, and end-user privacy.

    AppUp was born as a result of a presentation to Intel senior executive mgmt about the state of long-tail software development in the Spring of 2009. This led to the creation of a secret “roomed” start-up inside Intel codenamed “Agate Rock” which combined of the Intel Atom Developer Program with a new Appstore framework called "AppUp". When the Intel AppUp center beta was released in early January 2010, it was the first release by Intel of organically developed direct-to-consumer software and also Intel's first open beta. It took 192 days to go from the pitch green-light to the first external release at CES 2010. This required the management of a highly-distributed organization consisting of 27 cost centers, engineering teams from 4 continents and multiple divisions speaking 3 native languages in 5 timezones.

    In 2009 I flew beside a man who spent his entire flight using his brand-new Intel Inside laptop as a giant and very expensive battery for his iPhone. He did this so that he could play a game on that phone for the whole flight. (see attached pic) This event crystallized in my mind everything that was going wrong with the software ecosystem for PCs and everything that was being done right for software on smart phones at that time. This is why we created "Agate Rock", a top-secret "roomed" project aiming to (re)create a modern and vibrant software ecosystem for the PC.

    Trampoline systems built enterprise-centric AI solutions focused on expertise identification and retention and social network mapping. Customers simply pointed our server at a corporate data set (like an Exchange mailbox) and about a day later we'd have a fully-mapped and editable network of users, behaviors and subject matter. Within a week we could start to tell you interesting and actionable things about the people, relationships and expertise in that network. We were a billion dollar idea with an extremely talented technical team capable of delivering the goods. Unfortunately we were 7 years ahead of our time across the board. Very few enterprise customers were willing to take a risk on putting startup software in their data centers, they were extremely wary of "the cloud" and they had very little experience in managing privacy issues for their own employees. In the year and a half I managed engineering at Trampoline we: > re-factored our server from a dozen deployments to a single VM-based package (using homegrown containerization because that didn't exist yet) > shipped and deployed SONAR Server and Dashboard into multiple fortune 500 customers > delivered Metascope 1.0, which was used as the primary analysis tool by the world's worlds best ONA consultancy > grew the engineering org by 300% Additionally as an IC I partnered with head of Sales (Adrian Jones) to engage with enterprise customers, directly managed all engineering functions and personnel, and reported to the board monthly. As a P&L owner I was responsible for half of Trampolines operating budget and was within budget on a monthly basis.
