I am now helping our new IT consultancy Consolica which specializes in next generation business software to find clients in Western markets. Before I have built up and successfully managed a company from scratch together with my Russian partners in Moscow for 26 years, for the last 15 years with a local director, my involvement was strategic as a board member of the company. The company has now more than 50 locations and 800 staff. In the last 10 years I have set up a sushi fastfood startup in the Netherlands using Japanese robots for cost savings. Specialties: analysing company structures, marketing, franchising networks, controling, pricing structures, market developments, financial and cash flow analysis, database management, personnel managementAn entrepreneurial mindset and out of the box thinking as well as an international outlook having lived in several countries (the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Italy)I am fluent in German, English, French, Dutch, Russian, Italian and Spanish and speak some Portuguese

Owner And DirectorBocon Food Company B.V. Sep 2014 - Nov 2018Rotterdam Area, NetherlandsWe built up a new startup to sell sushi kiosks with machines and our self developed ready-made sushi rice with a long shelf life to supermarket chains. While we had pilot projects running in the two medium-sized chains Hoogvliet and Amazing Oriental in Den Haag and Eindhoven and our own sushi kiosk in Delft (all in the Netherlands) under the brand name Maki Maki the concept did not take off. Dutch supermarkets are low cost logistics distributors who pay only lip service to higher markup concepts as freshness, quality or service. They have a lot of small shops not really suitable for an upmarket product. We had to close the operation in November 2018.

Co-Owner And DirectorSushi Fast Food Startup Iizo B.V. Jun 2011 - May 2013Rotterdam Area, NetherlandsA Japanese co-investor approached me for this project: To use Japanese sushi robots to offer Australian-style sushi rolls (basically sushi sandwiches) as a healthy alternative to the general grisly fare available in the fast food market. Whereas in Australia and Japan this has been successful, it would have been a first in Europe. We knew about the risk and unfortunately it did not catch on. Similar concepts by others - e.g. Shabu Shabu in Amsterdam or a project in Lyon, France by then partner company "Sakura France Service" have also not been a success. For the average fast food client in the Netherlands, used to get a lot of calories for little money sushi was too expensive compared to other alternatives. We had been successful in raising demand within a few months for the product in central Rotterdam but the economics never worked. Also the Japanese partner turned out to be a fraud. We had to close the company in 2013.

Marketing And Wholesale ManagerSadko Company Moscow Nov 1992 - Jan 1994Moscow, Russian FederationI was employed as a marketing manager and manager of the wholesale division. Having had two supermarkets for hard currency clients since 1985 - a first in the Soviet Union for a partly owned foreign company - SADKO, a Swiss-Russian joint venture - expanded and opened a shopping center called “Sadko Arkada” in a central B location in Moscow next to the expedition centre "Krasnaya Presnya". It was up to me to develop a marketing concept to bring in clients without spending a fortune. I opted for a "here and now" concept, something people brought up in the Soviet Union had no experience of but were eager to have. Fashion shows, theme nights for the restaurants and advertisement in free English language newspapers which all aspirational Russians wanted to read brought in record crowds, even during a month (Oktober 1993) when we witnessed a curfew because the center was next to the bombed parliament building. I was also asked to organize the wholesale division of the company but since there was no money to actively have stock - a prerequisite for almost any wholesaler - this was a non-starter. When I left the company the whole idea of wholesale was abandoned.Sadko as a company did not survive the next Russian currency crises in 1998 since it had never occurred to the management that importing from a high cost country like Switzerland made you vulnerable to currency fluctuations. It had to be closed the following year.
