Throughout my 44-year medical career in clinical and non-clinical practice, I have been an innovator: leading clinical teams, improving performance to deliver good outcomes for patients and organisations to the highest professional standards. I am proud to have supported many colleagues in the realisation of their vision, the development of their careers and the achievement of great things.I use my healthcare experience as an Executive Coach (ILM 7) to support colleagues in the NHS and other sectors, enabling them to navigate the stresses and complexities of work and reach for the future they may not yet see. As a clinician, I introduced new procedures for pelvic floor repair in a busy gynaecology unit (core infrastructure, new technology and arranging all necessary certifications), developed staff training programmes, managed risk to minimise complications and conducted clinical audits of clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness.Alongside my clinical work, I established a successful and well-respected Medicolegal Practice, which subsequently expanded to cover the whole of the UK, including Ireland, the Far East and the Cayman Islands. I remain an active medico-legal practitioner with regular experience of appearing in court. As a Board Member of Airedale Wharfedale and Craven CCG and then Bradford District and Craven CCG between 2012 and 2022, I worked to oversee critical incidents within provider organisations. I facilitated the achievement of performance targets and managed conflicts of interest. I contributed to the development of new models of care for patients with complex medical problems, as well as the procurement of associated and redesigned services. In 2021 I became a member of the Board of the Mildmay Mission Hospital, which provides excellent services for people with HIV, drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness in London and overseas. In 2023, drawing on my previous board experience in this area, I became Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee.I was a trustee of a charity for 17 years and was involved at the heart of its activities, including fund raising and research. I was also a Governor of an 'Outstanding' school for over 13 years and Chair of Governors for 6 years.
