Operations Director: Full responsibility to set up and direct operations of our premier Technology Park for advanced Battery development and manufacturing.- Consolidation of R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Testing operations from 5 locations under one roof.- Upgrading laboratory facilities for world-class advanced battery development for multiple chemistries.- Ownership of budget and execution of facilities and operational projects, including next-gen battery research & manufacturing, contractor management & permitting, and establishing Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality Systems for the new facility.- Actively involved in Pontiac’s Technology Corridor revitalization: conversion of former General Motors facility and engaging EPS & XALT with local organizations for employment and technology programs with Pontiac schools.Senior Program Manager, PMO: Owned all aspects of planning & launch execution of a game-changing advanced lead-acid technology, ground-up.- Using solid Program Management and APQP methodologies as they were intended, executed an aggressive timeline on a venture capital budget.- Leadership & decision-making for chemistry R&D, battery design, manufacturing and validation team projects.- Led Board of Directors meetings, Customer visits, and Investor presentations.- Established clever processes & systems to manage shifting priorities and aggressive goals.- Developed strategy to provide sample battery modules to potential customers. 100% on-time prototype delivery.- Successful, on-time approvals of all air, water, waste, and occupancy permits with City, County, and State.

Program Management leader. Full responsibility of programs at all stages of life cycle while playing a key role in integration of PLM system into new division structure.- Full P&L, stage gate, and execution responsibility for 24 projects and 3 international quote opportunities.- Turned around neglected legacy programs acquired in restructure. Assessed true program status and took aggressive action across 4 development centers, 3 plants, and 4 countries. Within 6 months, Gate Reviews went from Red to Green, PPAP to 100% on-time, and average Change Control turnaround time decreased 86%.- Planned and executed transfer of 20 product lines between plants as part of division restructure. This included selling changes to various customers and managing challenging new factory requirements, validation, software and documentation updates.- Leader within new PMO. Developed critical stage gate, and peer/management review tools and templates for new organization. Trained various departments on standardized use of SharePoint, Project, and OneNote for program management.

Lead a technical team of experts through challenging electric vehicle component development programs.- Managed ground-up design and test for a fuel cell vehicle drivetrain system with a major U.S. automaker, including a triple-Inverter, Motor, and Interface switching unit.- Launched P2 Hybrid Inverter-DC/DC system to meet European VDA specification and developed presentation material for European trade shows on the key benefits and challenges of the architecture.- Lead and participated in PMO Special Interest Groups to develop various aspects of the organization’s Product Management Development System, particularly surrounding Gate Review, requirements management, FMEA, lessons learned, and content build-up from Peer Review to Executive Review.- Created standardized SharePoint site templates for Project Management, including Interactive Dashboard, Issues Management, Timeline views, Cost tracking, and document collaboration.

Senior Program Manager, PMO, Automotive Advanced Battery ProgramsFull responsibility of Battery Pack and Battery Management System (BMS) launches. Key role in maturity of new LG division.- Managed aggressive launch programs such as first Chevrolet Volt, Ford Focus BEV, Volvo PHEV liquid-cooled lithium battery systems from Concept through Validation, and BMS through PPAP.- Drove all aspects of battery pack and component development, manufacturing, validation, and challenging technical problem solving -- including cell module, power bus, electrical distribution system, BMS/electronics, software, thermal management, UN38.3 testing.- Developed PMO (Program Management Office) system and valuable contributor to LGCPI Steering Committee for critical business processes, APQP tools, and core portfolio strategies. Lead Special Interest Groups in Software Development CMMi (Capability Maturity Model Integration) certification.- Participant in SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), CAR (Center for Automotive Research), and government press events at the center of the electrification boom.

Created rapid change in an established, reluctant environment in a short time. Plant consolidated; offered relocation due to great success within organization; not able to move to headquarters at the time.- Promoted to global development responsibility of one of three company product lines within 6 months. Directed Mechanical & Electrical Engineering reports in other global regions.- Restructured department. Evaluated, released, hired, developed Engineers. Energized team to achieve company’s “Center Of Excellence” status through a clear 12-week strategy. All engineers were offered relocation.- Revamped development tools, processes, and documentation leading to factory ISO9001 certification. Member of SAP ERP implementation team.- Lead Lean projects commonizing similar machines, streamlining development/build time, inventory, and material spend. Established ‘Building Block’ design method for standard and custom machines. Engineering hours per product dropped to less than half from previous year. Rework due to design errors practically eliminated.

Business Unit Management 2004-2007- Primary customer contact and leader responsible for execution within $20M business unit: Program Management, P&L, quoting, new business development, and contract negotiation for multiple Medical Device OEM’s such as Johnson & Johnson, Abbott Labs, Philips, Datascope.- Scored Best-In-Class customer satisfaction, quality, delivery, and other critical metrics for two consecutive years.Launch Program Management 2003-2004- Managed all Launch programs from quote through production of North American Valeo business.International Program Management (Cologne, Germany) 2001-2003- Leveraging technical product and process knowledge, managed the manufacturing partnership on-site at the new European automotive electronics division of customer, Johnson Controls Interiors (JCI).Test Engineering 1998-2001- Extensive hardware and software design as Lead Test Engineer. Recruited and managed test engineering team in electronic manufacturing of automotive printed circuit board assemblies for Johnson Controls.

Electronic hardware and software design, industrial controls, motion control.- Project Engineer – Responsible for electrical design, build, documentation, and start-up of automation projects for Automotive & Commercial OEMs. Served as customer contact to accommodate special control and software requirements specific to each customer.- Hardware Development – Designed and implemented printed circuit boards for embedded systems. Designed FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) circuits using schematic capture and VHDL.- Software Development – C, BASIC, Visual Basic, Embedded VMEbus, PLC, Motion Control- Leadership efforts including restructure of schematic/software standards, recruiting, mentoring co-op students.
