My name is Peter Calcara and as the lobbyist for the more than 22,000 members of PICPA, I work to ensure that the legislative and regulatory process protects and promotes the accounting profession and the clients our members serve. A lobbyists role is not always about championing for legislation. Often times, it's about articulating positions that protect against the negative impact or unintended consequences of proposed legislation or regulations. After 20 years in Harrisburg and an innate knack at developing relationships with people, I have positioned PICPA as a credible voice in the public policy making arena on the issues of accounting, auditing and taxation. My goal is to promote and maintain PICPA’s reputation as the premier CPA organization at the forefront of state accounting, auditing and tax-related issues, and to continue to be the voice of fiscally responsible, business-friendly legislation.
