After many successful years in multiple, diverse leadership roles at Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Inc., FLEX acquired Saturn thus expanding its growing automotive business portfolio. I led the local engineering team of 42 professionals supporting new product programs in vehicle electrification, connectivity and wiring. Together, we were one of eight automotive-focused Design Centers enabling the growth of FLEX Automotive from less than $700M in 2012 to nearly $3B in 2017. Recently, I drove the successful third party audit of our Quality Management System to IATF 16949, championed awareness of and training in Functional Safety to ISO 26262 and established a leadership NPI role for North America.

During this time I was promoted to lead the development of manufacturing process technologies, facility strategies and environmental initiatives for our electromechanical, electronics and electrical Business Units in the US, Mexico and China. I managed global teams in the US, China and the Philippines to successfully execute $22M in new capital equipment for new product launches in the US and China. In addition, I championed the utilization of lean methodologies and the introduction of state of the art SMT processes at our electronics manufacturing facility in Mexico.

I managed sales growth, program management and profitability improvement of the Electronics Business Unit and the Electro-mechanical Actuator Business – $47M in annual revenue of $200M in total corporate revenue. While in this role, I volunteered to participate in the establishment of a new, wholly-owned manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China. I worked with local officials to obtain resources and understand requirements for importation of material and equipment. I led the introduction of a legacy product to vet all aspects of the new entity’s ERP system in preparation for significant, newly awarded business to follow. During this engagement, I pursued new, local business opportunities and evaluated potential JVs with local Chinese firms.

I was promoted to drive all aspects of Saturn’s Electronics Business Unit including P&L of a $26M operation designing and manufacturing automotive, commercial and military electronic assemblies. I led a critical ‘turn-around’ initiative implementing strategic and tactical actions to drastically improve quality, repair customer confidence and reverse months of financial losses. These actions resulted in sustained profitability, establishment of a robust Quality Management System and significant, new business awards.

Building on my previous, successful engagement at two other prominent tier one organizations, I championed Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management and Cost Estimating for the Oxford division of Saturn’s Electromechanical Business Unit generating $40M in annual sales. Utilizing APQP disciplines, lean manufacturing principles, DOEs and other problem-solving tools, we repaired lagging customer confidence, re-established key customer certifications and positioned the organization for a future of increased growth and profitability.
