I spent an enjoyable three years developing improvements to operational effectiveness in the area of marksmanship and shooting excellence, with a particular emphasis on infantry weapons and small arms up to sharpshooter systems. We focused on delivering progressive improvements to operational shooting and doctrine, positively influencing Army Operational Shooting Policy, resulting in significant improvements in shooting standards. We devised and delivered new coaching courses, and developed bespoke training solutions to units prior to operational deployment. I also directed 'Bisley' - the annual army operational shooting competition for national and international military personnel, in conjunction with the National Rifle Association and other Services. I operated with forward elements of 1 R Anglian during Herrick 11 in Afghanistan.

Business Manager for UK and International courier business covering all operations across parcel and freight network within the 'GU' postcode area. Highly time sensitive logistics with FedEx as international agent. I directed our sales strategy and led a diverse team of 72 employees covering finance, operations, customer service, drivers and warehouse. Took full responsibility for profitability, HR, Health & Safety, transport legislation.

I led a multi disciplined team to direct a strategic change management project within this complex international organisation. £5M was reallocated to market facing activities following a review of business functions and market segmentation. As a result, the company was better placed to target resources to emerging markets and secure new business from lucrative overseas visitor spend in Britain. The project was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.

I steered business strategy across Asia through established offices in Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore. New business opportunities were identified and we opened additional offices in China, Malaysia and Thailand, recruiting locally and sourcing premises. I agreed marketing strategies and set budgets and reporting lines for the network. We developed a tremendous team ethos and shared best practice.

Led Battalion shooting training and operational marksmanship development, and achieved success at Divisional championship 8 years in succession. 3 PWRR were national TA Unit Champions six times in seven years. As captain of TA Shooting from 2000-07 I led progressive developments to military shooting training systems resulting in successive victories at international military competitions ahead of worldwide regular and reserve forces. This translated directly into my role with HQ Inf steering improvements to Operational Marksmanship.
