I am currently working as the Group CIO for Pietercil, a sales & marketing group that distributes Fast Moving Consumer Goods through mass retail and other different channels.Before joining Pietercil, I have been active in various management roles at Esko, a global leader in packaging pre-production solutions. Throughout this period, I have gradually become more of a business-oriented person instead of a technical-oriented person, however without losing my passion for technology and the Internet in particular.In the past 20 years I have always assumed roles with a global responsibility, i.e. not linked to a specific country or region. I find it very challenging to work an interact with different cultures and be able to operate on a wider scale.Between 2004 and 2013, I was also a part-time professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the Ghent University (UGent) in the area of Internet technologies, covering general network architecture principles, data encryption, content delivery networks and operational aspects of network based computer systems.Before joining Esko in 2003, I started my professional career at UUNET (now part of Verizon), working as a Service Delivery Manager for the Belgium and Luxembourg territory. This is also where I acquired my passion for the Internet and computer networks in general.

Managed infrastructure services are outsourced to a number of partners, primarily AtoS and Easynet. In this role, I manage an annual IT budget of between 5 and 10 MEUR. In my role, I have also been involved in a number of due diligence activities.During this timeframe I have been involved in all aspects of IT such as CRM, Web, ERP, WAN implementations but also team transformation towards applying an agile methodology, IT project portfolio management and dealing with managed service partner negotiations and contracting. -

The department acts as a bridge between the different software engineering teams and the various regional Customer Service organizations worldwide.
