Peter began his real estate investment practice in 1993. Over the next 22 years, he was either Operating Project General Partner or sole owner-operator of highly successful hotels. Peter gradually transitioned from his active owner-manager role to making private passive investments in hotels, multi-family, self-storage, and senior care across the country. In 2018, Peter sold his last owned and operated property, which left him free to concentrate solely on real estate private equity investments.For the past 11 years, Peter has relied upon his deep knowledge of real estate finance, operations, and risk to develop a portfolio of carefully selected investments. Because of his decades of operating while having the sole risk of loss, Peter has unique underwriting skills that are rare in the private equity landscape. Peter’s operational background and insights resonate with the sponsors he invests with. Likewise, he only invests with sponsors who have large-scale property management operations, and who are willing to take on the significant personal risk. The core of the investment thesis is that well-sponsored 'Friends and Family Deals' have higher risk-adjusted returns than public real estate equities or private real estate funds.
