As a multi-instrumentalist and performer from a young age I have been lucky to experience a wide range of musical groups - classical, jazz, brass, percussion, fusion, rock, new age - leading to youth appearances in the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Manchester’s RNCM, as well as a brief trip to perform in Boston, Massachusetts.Later I got the opportunity to join Una Baines, founding member of The Fall, performing material from her 1995 album with The Fates then recently re-released on the Manchester based label Finders Keepers. Performances included the Manchester alternative circuit and festivals including Festival No.6.Community work included directing an Arts Council and Health Lottery funded project with early career musicians from the BBC Philharmonic and Tom Harrold, award winning composer for the BBC Proms.As a composer I explored and created a wide range of styles - electro, hip-hop, classical, solo piano - and was commissioned for several media projects including short films and documentaries that were shortlisted in the Reed.co.uk Short Film Competition 2011 & Limelight Awards 2011. https://peteremms.bandcamp.com/album/solo-piano-footstepsI also worked with a number of therapists to develop meditative soundscapes for guided therapy, helping people cope with change and life disturbances.
