Peter Espig has advised a number of Chinese and Japanese investment banks and maintains relationships with companies throughout Asia, including businesses in Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore. Currently, he serves as a Director at Star Bulk Carriers Corp., as well as an advisor to Advance Capital in Tokyo; Singapore; and Vancouver, Canada. In the latter role, Peter Espig has consulted for many companies around the world, including assisting several midsized corporations with raising capital before IPOs and navigating the IPO process. He has also sourced, structured, and managed acquisitions. Peter Espig attended The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in May 1989. While there, Mr. Espig played football for the 1986-1987 and 1987-1988 national championship teams. He also studied at Columbia Business School in New York City, where he received a Chazen Society Fellowship and earned his Master of Business Administration in Finance in May 2003. As a Columbia graduate student, Peter Espig published case studies on the economic troubles of Merrill Lynch Japan (now Bank of America Merrill Lynch Japan) and Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, Ltd. He was also selected to assist Robert Fallon, the former CEO of KEB, in research on the Japanese banking system. After finishing business school, Peter Espig worked for a year at Shinsei Bank Ltd. in the company's Specialty Finance Group.. Mr. Espig sourced, researched, and pitched potential mergers and acquisitions. He then moved to Olympus Capital Holdings Asia in Tokyo, where he led the Kansai Initiative project. He also spent a year with the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs Japan Co. Ltd. before accepting his current position.
