About Peter T. Fitzroy
My vocation is Christian Education! More specifically, it is teaching Biblical & Theological Studies at the secondary and collegiate level to deepen students' understanding and to foster authentic spiritual growth in the next generation of Christian leaders. This calling was developed during my undergraduate degree at Gordon College where I majored in Biblical & Theological Studies and Youth Ministries. I further pursued advanced degrees in the field (Master of Divinity: Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; Master of Theology: Boston College School of Theology & Ministry) and engaged in teaching internships. I am also certified as a Bible Specialist through ACSI. Having taught and served in a Christian school for the past four years, my vocational calling has been confirmed and continues with unrelenting passion.I would like to share two of my foundational convictions which I bring to the classroom and influence my teaching. These are two slogans used frequently at my alma mater, Gordon College: “freedom within a framework of faith” and “faith seeking understanding.” As an educative community, we sought out the meaning of these two phrases both as Christians and as learners. As a Christian educator, one of my goals is to have my classroom be a safe place for students to ask engaging questions. Having both a “framework of faith” and a “faith seeking understanding,” allows students the freedom to be challenged by hard truths and deep questions, yet have the foundation and core beliefs, as well as the support of an authentically Christian teacher, to assimilate answers and new knowledge into an already established framework of faith. I am excited to continue teaching in educational settings that are distinctively Christian, while remaining faithful to the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence!Sola Deo GloriaPeter T. Executive Assistant To The Headmaster, Front Office Associate
Faculty (Biblical Studies, History, English)
High School Faculty
I wore many hats at Whitinsville Christian School. First, I provided academic support services to high school students. This involved classroom support, individual and small group tutoring and help with the development of executive functioning and organizational skills. Additionally, I served as the coordinator of the online learning program requirement for all high school students. Finally, I was the director and mentor of the student Chapel Band and worked collaboratively with other faculty to plan high school Chapel events.I also gave evening lectures in the Crusader Lecture Series, an ongoing series for the greater WCS community (see flyers below).
Bible/History Instructor
At St. David's School, I taught the 7th grade history course: Bible Survey. I taught this course from a historical-critical and theological perspective examining the Bible's history, literature, and influence on western culture. In this position, I created and implemented original curriculum to increase students’ biblical & theological understanding and foster authentic spiritual growth. As a teacher at St. David's, I continued to develop and hone my teaching philosophy and practice to teach the Bible in the most effective way.In addition to teaching this course, I maintained superb communication with parents, and students, oversaw an advisory, assisted on the middle school praise team, and worked collaboratively with the grade chair, grade team, department chair, Academic Dean, and Middle School Principal to provide the best pedagogical practices possible.
Upper School Bible Teacher & Chapel Coordinator
At SSCA, I taught 7th grade (Old Testament Survey) & 12th grade (Leadership & Moral Issues) Bible classes. In both classes I created and implemented original curriculum. Teaching these classes allowed me to develop and hone my teaching philosophy and practice, including classroom management skills, and different pedagogical approaches. In my development and implementation of curriculum, I sought to employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials to provide creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional. I have used discussion, PowerPoint, debate, film, guest speakers, music, and other forms of media to reach all different types of learning styles, while remaining true to the school’s mission and Christian educational philosophy. As the Chapel Coordinator, I encouraged students through our Chapel program to take their faith seriously and to live out the implications. In this role, I directed the Chapel program at the school (preK-12) by casting the vision and mission, planning the themes, delivering Chapel messages, scheduling other guest speakers, directing the individual Chapel services, mentoring the student Chapel Team, and creating and distributing promotional materials. I also collaborated with other members of the administrative team to further the mission of the school and served as a member of the Spiritual Life Committee, a Board directed sub-committee. In this role, I also had the opportunity to mentor a specific group of students and be available for spiritual counseling. Additionally, I taught computer classes for K-5.
Therapeutic Mentor
As a Therapeutic Mentor with Lahey Health Behavioral Services I worked with at risk youth who had significant behavioral, emotional and mental health needs. We worked together to accomplish their therapeutic goals set by a clinician usually involving issues regarding anger management, social interactions, listening abilities, frustration tolerance, and daily living skills. We went out into the community to work on these goals outside of the clinical environment and practiced life skills in their respective communities. This role also involved communication with others members of the youths' therapeutic teams, and appropriate record keeping and documentation of therapy during the sessions.
Biblical & Theological Studies Teaching Assistant
I was employed by Dr. Roger J. Green, (Ph.D.) (Professor and Chair of Biblical and Theological Studies) at Gordon College from 2005-2014. The major duties in this position involved serving as a Tutor for the New Testament Survey course. In this role, I held regular office hours, taught weekly review sessions, and was available for individual tutoring sessions. My other responsibilities included proctoring exams, grading exams, maintaining grade records on BlackBoard, ordering library materials, and other office work for the professor as needed.
Shift Manager & Office Manager (Dining Services)
As a Shift Supervisor for Gordon College Dining Services I directed student workers during meal times. This involved working closely with student workers to serve the larger college community by maintaining food safety standards, staffing needs, and preparation and clean-up work.As the office manager, I oversaw the student application process, staffing needs for the department, payroll, and disciplinary acts as needed.
Teaching Intern
For the 2012-2013 academic year I served as a Teaching Intern at MCCPS. During this time, I developed “standards driven” curriculum from the State of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for English & Language Arts and Social Studies. I developed and taught curriculum for three elective courses: Ethics & Film, Creative Writing, and Modern Issues & Current Events. Throughout the internship period, I met regularly with the Head of School and Internship Coordinator to critique and develop my curriculum design, lesson plans, and classroom management techniques.

As an Academic Product Category Assistant at Christianbook.com I worked with new inventory classifying products into appropriate categories for the web site. I dealt primarily with Christian Academic products related to Theology, Biblical Studies, Church History, Original/Research Languages, and Philosophy. In addition, I often performed this function pertaining to products in other areas such as Church and Pastoral Resources, Bibles, Christian Living, and Bible Studies. My initial position in the company was as a Customer Service Representative.
Teaching Intern
As a Teaching Intern at North Shore Christian Ministries I gained teaching experience through developing and implementing a variety of curriculum. I taught Youth Alpha to the confirmation classes in a Catholic parish. I also taught an adult curriculum called The Truth Project, teaching the fundamentals of Christian doctrine and worldview. In this role I was also involved with planning training conferences for churches looking to implement a Youth Alpha where I gave lectures on the principles of youth ministry and leading effective small groups.
