About Peter Kenyon
I'm a strategic thinker bringing insights from my diverse experience in food systems: public health, retail, hospitality and tertiary studies in food policy and political economy. I currently work to support strong, dynamic, healthy and fair food systems through engagement with producers and market operators within Victoria's accredited farmers' market network. Before moving to regional Australia, I owned and ran Sydney's best organic grocer for twelve years, subsequently completing a master's degree in food policy through the leading university in this field: City, University of London.I developed an understanding of the needs of rural and regional communities and was fortunate to work for independent federal MP Cathy McGowan AO as Major Projects and Policy Adviser. This office was defined by high levels of community engagement and customer service with good governance and effective process underpinning this work. When it comes to food I believe a healthy future will depend on developing strong connections to country. We need place-based understanding of landscapes and their potential and to understand that landscapes are something we can eat as much with our eyes and our hearts as with our mouths. In my work I seek to change the way people think and feel about food, to understand the potential of a strong food culture to deliver strong, sustainable, confident rural communities.
Listed skills include Food, Food Industry, Strategic Planning, Business Strategy, and 25 others.
