Responsible for the mechanical design of enclosures and accessories, working within a large team of engineers. Curtis cab designs require many levels of sheet metal parts and weldments; created with Solidworks and utilizing an Autodesk Vault to manage files. In addition to design, I am also responsible for designing fixtures, building prototypes and creating work instructions.

Design responsibility for the mechanical design of a product line of industrial fans used primarily for firefighting and enclosed work site ventilation. Design work includes welded steel frames, thermoformed parts, injection molded components, sheet metal, and assembly fixtures. Design and maintenance of engineering documents primarily performed with Solidworks; working with many large assemblies (100+ components). In addition to design work, technical writing for work instructions and manuals; CAM programming using HSMWorks.

Primary responsibility was the design of new products and reverse engineering of OEM products related to the photo finishing industry. All design tasks were completed utilizing Solidworks. Design projects utilized the technologies of blow molding, thermoforming, injection molding, rubber molding, sheet metal and machined metal. Vendor searching and negotiation were key skills used in this position. Local, national, Chinese and Indian vendors were utilized at Liberty Photo Products. In the course of my tenure at Liberty, two competitors were acquired. Identifying, evaluating, and integrating the product lines was required of this position.

Santee, Ca

Designing and sourcing components for the recreational vehicle (RV) industry. Projects for best RV included, design of a tent door for the side of a trailer, an awning for the back end of toy haulers, and poles for awning rooms. With all of these design projects, also came the responsibility of starting up operations before turning over to the production manager. This includes tooling, sourcing, and arranging the assembly areas. Design work was performed with Solidworks. This job required regular travel to Tecate, Mexico to supervise local tooling vendors and start up operations.

Rancho Dominguez, Ca

Primary job responsibility was to quote, design and validate dies for plastic extrusion on single screw extruders for the furniture industry. LDPE, HIPS, PVC and ABS were the resins most commonly used. The screw sizes of the extruders ranged between 1.5" and 4.5". Design of punch press dies, cutting dies, cooling and inspection fixtures for plastic extrusion operation. This position also gave me the unfortunate experience of closing down a factory when ITW consolidated three extrusion companies into one central location.
