NYC H2O is a nonprofit organization that provides programs about NYC’s water system and ecology in in all five boroughs, with memorable walking tours and beach clean-ups that educate residents and school kids about NYC’s amazing water resources — from drinking water to sewers and the natural and hidden springs that are all around us. More than 12,000 school kids have attended their reservoir education trips between 2014 and 2017, with many more to do so in the future.

SCP Communications, the birthplace of Medscape, started life as Surgical Care Publications, and pioneered an innovative way to create trusted medical journals, starting with INFECTIONS in SURGERY. It published many leading journals (including in INFECTIONS in MEDICINE, INFECTIONS in UROLOGY, COMPLICATIONS in ORTHOPEDICS, The AIDS Reader, and others), ran a medical meetings business and was an accredited provider of CME (through The Thomas Beam Institute). From its start in 1982, before the introduction of the PC or Mac, SCP was an innovator in using technology and processes, with a workplace setting known as the, "electronic newsroom." In 1995, SCP launched Medscape.

Led the founders team (a skunks work project at SCP Communications), served as CEO through 1999 when I became Chairman. Company sold to MedicaLogic in March 2000. Medicalogic sold Medscape to WebMD in 12/2001. Although I write and peer-review for the site, my business relationship with WebMD ended in January 2002.
