Worked on Caffe, a pretty cool framework for "deep learning." Did C++ development and "computer vision." Wrote a paper on deep learning for logo detection.caffe.berkeleyvision.org

Teaching assistant (or "undergraduate student instructor") for CS189, the introductory machine learning class at Berkeley. Held discussion sections and office hours, wrote homeworks, worksheets, and exams, and taught my students how to teach their classifiers how to learn from data better. Drank root beer out of a paper bag.

Big Data On Small Children. Interned on the Data Science team. Did a mix of development and analytics work. Among other things, I built a user simulator, which predicted user progression on Khan Academy based on certain models of their behaviour. Also worked with psychometric machine-learning models and cool side projects! Learned how to bake bread and play Dominion.

Part of the first batch of summer interns at Pinterest. Worked on the Black Ops team, where I helped fight spam, porn, and security issues with machine learning. I built a service from scratch to classify millions of webpages as malicious or non-malicious. I also built some other cool things you should ask me about! Worked with Vowpal Wabbit, Thrift, and a mostly Python-based stack. Coined the term "pintern.""Hey, pass me the pintern! My stapler remover's broken."

I helped teach new computer science students Python and fervently preached the gospel of Abstraction. Discussed the phonological intricacies of Sanskrit in a lab setting.

Wrote an A/B testing framework, with all the backend and frontend garglsplarg it entailed. Made a bulk emailing service and payment/invoicing system, both of which automated a lot of work that was previously done manually. Learned to play Soccer-Tennis.

Developed considerate systems and artificial intelligence for a PhD. project exploring how manipulation of speech can enhance the understandability of multi-party conversations. Extensively used C++, CLAM, git, and Unix while dabbling in Ruby on Rails, Android development, and signals processing. Played around with quadrotors.

Led overall design, collaborated with local mentors and machinists, managed logistics, recruiting, and retention for 100-person robotics team for the FIRST Robotics competition. Placed as quarterfinalists in UC Davis regional for the first time in three years. Expanded team from 40 active members to 100+ active members, started a community outreach and volunteering program, became addicted to caffeine.

Used statistical and probabilistic analysis to analyse the accuracy of a novel RNA based test in predicting the onset of carcinogenic HPV infections. Wrote a white paper on flesh-eating bacteria.
