Sequoia Services assists community housing organizations in their affordable housing programs. My focus is on historic preservation with respect to preserving and enhancing significant architectural and cultural features in the development of rehab specifications.I am continuing my service on the Planning Commission of Scio Township. We have informally streamlined approval processes for projects for which no citizens appear at the mandatory public hearing for the project.I retired from ASTI Environmental in March 2012, but still assist ASTI teams working on solutions to challenges confronting ASTI's clients. At ASTI, I assisted the City of Flint HDC by reviewing rehab projects in the Historic Districts to ensure that renovation work met HUD and historic preservation requirements. Many rehab plans did not reflect the coordination between Section 106 exemptions and HUD's Lead Safe Housing Rule.While employed by ASTI and working for Wayne Metro Community Action Agency, in just 6 weeks my team completed NSP work at 34 houses to be rehabbed.Specialties: Historic preservation, rehab approaches for historic housing, EA/NEPA clearance, environmental services to transportation and mining, urban development respecting natural features, ordinance development, and revitalization services--lead-based paint, asbestos surveys/abatement, historical/cultural clearance.
