Responsible for information technology, telecommunications and health information management for the largest vertically integrated post-acute care and senior housing provider in Massachusetts. HSL operates 818 inpatient LTAC, rehab, LTC and skilled nursing beds, a home health agency, a hospice, and adult day care. In addition, HSL operates 2 continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) and 3 affordable housing complexes with over 1,540 independent living and assisted living units. Oversaw a portfolio of information systems that included an inpatient/outpatient electronic medical record system (EMR), an ambulatory physician EMR, a home health/hospice EMR, a CCRC management system and an affordable housing building management system.

Developed 5 year strategic and operating plans for a large regional health information exchange serving 33 hospitals and associated physicians in the Chicago metropolitan area. Worked with multiple stakeholders including providers, payers, public health agencies, state agencies and the software vendor to develop new uses cases and data collection techniques.

Served as a member of the Advisory Council for the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange - a coalition of 33 hospitals implementing the HIE that serves the Chicagoland area with the sponsorship of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council.

Served as the initial chairman of the Advisory Board for the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange - a coalition of 31 hospitals developing the HIE serving the Chicagoland area sponsored by the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. Worked closely with area CIOs and with the Illinois Health Information Exchange Authority to build the alliances necessary to build the HIE. Provided leadership for the HIE's strategic planning process.

Responsible for information systems, telecommunications, and patient relations for a vertically integrated healthcare delivery system that included a 350-bed teaching hospital, a 270-bed community hospital, a 120-bed acute rehabilitation hospital and an affiliated faculty physician practice with 250 physicians and a network of 25 clinics. Oversaw an integrated, centralized information system linked by a master patient index and featuring an inpatient electronic medical record (EMR) system, a physician EMR system, a behavioral health EMR system and a data repository. Responsible for 115 FTEs, including 75 IT, 40 patient relations, annual operating budget of $15,500,000, and capital budget of $3,700,000.
