With four decades of experience in visual communications, I’ve collaborated with diverse clients, projects and roles—from design studios and ad agencies to running my own design business. Along the way, I’ve honed transferable skills, an eye for quality and a deep understanding of visual language. Clarity Before Creativity. I believe the foundation of impactful design lies in clear, purposeful communication. Creativity flourishes when built on this solid groundwork, and I bring this approach to every project. Whilst I appreciate the democratisation of graphic design, I recognise that the industry often lacks regulation and clear standards. Influenced by pioneers like Jamie Reid and David Carson, I respect the punk and fresh spirit of design. However, I also see how the arrival of templated software and relentless deadlines can stifle creativity. Nothing kills creative thinking faster than stress. Communication designers frequently find themselves as the last stop in the creative chain, caught in the trap of delivering work that’s expected to be good, fast, and cheap. I’d like to see the balance restored so that speed does not overshadow the time and care needed for considered, engaging design solutions. By prioritising clarity, let’s help ideas breathe and evolve into something meaningful, ensuring the end result isn’t just seen but remembered.
