For as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with maps. It's something I carried with me into my adventures into the outdoors, and something that I've used to shape my career. To me, Geographic Information Science is a way I can merge my love of maps and the outdoors with practical, on-the-ground work to help improve the world around me.To me, spatial information is a bit like a puzzle: all the pieces are laid out, ready to be put together. It's up to me as the analyst to interpret what I'm seeing and make something meaningful from it, and it's this sense of creativity and ownership in my work that drives my motivation to think even further outside the box in pursuit of success.Throughout my young career, I've always brought my charisma and eagerness to each and every task. These traits were able to flourish in my academic pursuits, when I received my Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Science and Technology from the University of Massachusetts.I've always looked under every leaf for skills that can help me advance who I am. My experience in wilderness education as a Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch allowed me to work on effectively and clearly communicating important ideas. As an Ambassador for the Town of Amherst, I was able to serve my community while working on initiating and sustaining meaningful conversations with strangers. Upon returning to Philmont on their GIS team, I honed my data-management and time-sensitive production skills by working in a fast-paced environment and managing a database spanning more than 140,000 acres of land.Currently, I am a GIS Analyst at BSC Group, where I use spatial science to support the management of a diverse set of work and projects. From delivering essential utility services to populations, to monitoring habitats for rare species, to developing complex workflows to automate GIS processes and increase efficiency, my experience with BSC Group allows me to flex my cartographic and analytical muscles in a way that directly benefits the people and environment I interact with on the daily.Outside of my professional career, you can always find me in the mountains, where I'll be hiking, riding my mountain bike, or snowboarding.
