As someone who actively looks to towards having a wide-ranging portfolio career that allows for the cross-range of skills, I will work on a whole range of projects and roles that may not fit nicely into any other category:* Ice Cream Van Operative for BFBS: Taking the BFBS Ice Cream van to various locations to give out ice cream to personal. * Swing Driver: Moving movie-making trucks from location to location.* DCP trailer creation: Providing a DCP trailer from a video file, including some basic editing as required, for a client for distribution to cinemas worldwide, often on a short turnaround time.

Providing technical consultation and advice to a wide range of companies and organisations in relation to cinema and non-cinema projection and other technical advice. Some of this work was done via the Technical Ambassador Scheme.Along with providing technical consultation, I have also provided technical training, either on a one-to-one basis or via other organisations, such as the Cinema Technology Community (CTC) and Film, Projection & Heritage Network (FPHN).

Along with the practical hands-on experience, I have been a regular contributor to the past Screen Trade Magazine where I had a regular column, to writing for Cinema Technology Magazine, along with writing regular blog posts for my own website along with guest publications for other sites.In October 2010 I worked for Barco as part of their marketing campaign for the launch of their 4K DLP projector at ShowEast. I took part in a '4K Quest' where I wrote a blog every day, which was at http://www.4kdiaries.com. This involved travelling to LA and Dallas, Belgium (and an interview in London) to interview experts in the field and find out the secrets of 2K v 4K resolution.In April 2015 I was asked to write another blog post for Barco Healthcare around the use of 4K in relation to the Operating Theatre: http://www.barco.com/en/News/Post/2015/4/21/From-Hollywood-to-the-OR-4K-resolution-matters.

Working for a range of different companies and organisations as a projectionist or AV technician, embracing both celluloid and digital technology. Acting mainly as a Freelance Projectionist and AV Technician in a variety of different venues in London and the South East, including BFI, BAFTA, NBC Universal, Disney, EOne Films, ProScreens, Norden Farm, BFBS/SSVC, Nightflix, Catford Broadway Theatre, along with a number of years working as part of the projectionist team at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival cinema.Work has included preview theatres, independent cinemas, working with 16mm, 35mm, 70mm long play and changeover film projectors, modern digital cinema projectors, along with pop-up and outdoor cinema events and associated equipment.Various venues have also required more traditional AV technical work (stage lighting, audio, presentations etc).

As Commissioning Editor for the Cinema Technology Magazine, I work closely with the Managing Editor to manage the quarterly content that appears in the magazine, either directly by writing or by commissioning others to provide it. I manage the interaction and deadlines with both our regular and individual contributors. Management of all aspects of the online presence of the magazine from the website to social media and the first point of content for the magazine. Representing the magazine at events and constantly looking for stories and topics that might be of interest to the readership of the magazine both in print and online (https://issuu.com/cinematechnology).

As part of the Technical Services team, I check, prepare and screen material at the BFI Southbank on a variety of different formats (16mm, 35mm, 70mm, Digibeta, DCP etc) as part of the public screenings or for private events.

I am one of the three partners of AWKE a small web hosting company.

Nightflix was an events company that specialised in cinema across the UK. Starting with the company while it was still small I moved rapidly from a junior project manager role to Head of Operations & Technical within a few months. My role meant that I:* Built, developed and lead a 6 strong Operations Team* Worked with clients to understand their requirements to offer the best event.* Project Management - planned and implemented new site builds and openings* Filed the Distributor forms for the opening of new sites.* Writing/maintaining Event Management Plans for all our events both at the permanent and pop-up cinema events. * Looking after the daily operations of all sites across the UK.* Liaising with the virtual projection and technical team to maintain the best picture and audio quality on all our sites and pop-up events. * Working closely with our CEO to manage all aspects of our growing entertainment events portfolio. * Deputising for the CEO in their absence* Developing and implementing training and development across the whole company:* Looking after Health & Safety on sites* Working on strategy alongside the CEO and implementing across the company* Provide hands-on support for the events and drive-in cinemas, including driving the HGV wagons across the country. * Experience with both projection (DCP and Non-DCP) and LED screen technology, along with all aspects of opening a new cinema location and licensing. * Also developed our video on demand service @home and our internal staff intranet site. * Line managed and developed staff, including recruitment. * Involved with Food & Beverage.* Hands-on building and maintenance on-site, including setting up generators, cabling, fencing, fixing items - including toilets.* Knowledge and understanding of shipping containers and their transportation/logistics across the country* Built and operated a mobile LED screen with the CEO

Providing bespoke technical advice and assistance for independent exhibitors of all shapes and sizes in London and the South East as part of a network of Independent Cinema Office (ICO) technical ambassadors across the UK, through on site visits. This advice can be from assessing the technical setup, through to outdoor cinema, and whether a DCP setup is practical. After each visit a report is produced that is sent to the exhibitor, and also published on the ICO website.

As Business Analyst, I had responsibility for taking a basic idea and transforming it into reality, such as multiple platforms delivering different services, in conjunction with the Product Owner. Specifically, I designed and implemented a new technology editorial platform, managed the integration of a 3rd party acquisition and had ownership of product demonstration / API developers websites.♣ Facilitated migration of the change over from old platforms to new without any disruption to services which involved high level storeys implementation.♣ Enabled integration of a 3rd party company featuring a two system migration and formulation of 100-page document on data sourcing and associated discussion paper.Instrumental in enabling the development of a technical proof of concept for a 3rd party development house.

I had responsibility for in excess of 30 components and software products as the Technical Lead of a team of 12 Developers working on ingest and integration, such as an in-house database and for writing storeys within Agile, integrating the underlying infrastructure of the iPlayer. As Product Owner, I reviewed roadmaps to ascertain the order and priority of activities relating to legacy, brand new and ‘in development’ projects. I also worked in collaboration with teams of Engineers, Tests and Technical Leads to deliver features and resolve technical issues.♣ Oversaw the integration of programme metadata with 3rd party systems, such as Virgin Liberate, Sky, YouView and BBC Store.♣ Applied Continuous Delivery and Kanban Agile methodologies for software development.♣ Took ownership of a team that hadn’t had previous direction and management and had a backlog of several thousand active tickets which were subsequently resolved.

With accountability for developing and implementing programme information structures across both bbc.co.uk and iPlayer, I mapped and interpreted metadata specifications to launch iPlayer on Sky, YouView and Virgin Liberate as well as managing technical content requirements.Managed product and technical relationships with 3rd parties such as ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV and the Community Channel.

As a Media Manager I worked on a number of different projects:* Peoplelink - A customised version of LivelInk for managing the entire BBC electronic HR records.* Records Management Audit - part of a team who carried out an audit of all records management requirements across the BBC, including writing up reports and making any necessary recommendations.* 1Xtra Archive Database - When the 1Xtra radio station first started there was not an archive database. Working with the Media Manager in that area, I designed, built and implemented a database for the production team to use.* Implementation of Freedom Information Act - Part of the team responsible for the implementation of the FOI Act across the BBC, including to help research and produce the Publication Scheme.* Parenting website/Child of Our Time - worked to assist the production teams with their video archiving requirements on using an asset management system, known as Colledia.* Media Manager video - part of a team of Media Managers who produced a short video all about Media Management in the BBC. The video, narrated by Alan Yentob, included interviews with senior people in the BBC including the Director General and Head of Radio 4.* Data Migration project - worked as a Subject Matter Expert on the migration of four BBC archive systems, to a single system. One of the systems, INFAX was nearly 30 years old and contained a variety of different types of the same programme and archive stock information. I worked with the team to understand the data structures, requirements, along with testing. * Launch the BBC iPlayer - I was part of the team to who built and launched the world famous BBC iPlayer product. I worked to set the standards for the programme information which appeared on the site. I also carried out an audit of the AV content which appeared on the bbd.co.uk website at the time.

Cataloguing all the Television output for the BBC, either just from paperwork or by watching the programmes themselves. Entering the relevant description into the system and then adding the appropriate indexing terms so that programme makers could retrieve the clips they wanted at a later date. While working in the TV Research team, retrieving and ordering up tapes for different television producers, including researching a possible list of content which was suitable for their needs. I did a large amount of archive researching which was used on the opening titles to the 2001 election programme, for which I received a production credit.

Mainly based in the Music Library, putting away discs and records, assisting radio presenters and journalists to find music for their shows or packages and cataloguing new discs when they arrived at the station. Covered for the main music librarian when they were on leave or sick.I worked in other areas of the radio station, on the reception desk welcoming visitors and answering the phones to the public. I also represented Radio Cornwall at events such as the Royal Cornwall Show and the Stithians Shows.I did a variety of other tasks, including answering the phones for radio programme phone-ins.

While at university I worked at the Students' Union as part of the Entertainments Department. Within this department I worked on the entrance tills, taking the money from the students or signing in in the guests. I also worked in the Cloakroom, where I become a Cloakroom Supervisor which meant that I was responsible for a team of up to 7 or 8 in three different cloakroom locations across the building and anything up to 1500 coats an evening. Additionally I was a Fire Panel monitor which meant being responsible for monitoring the fire panel and alert managers in the event of an alarm activation. Finally I was also part of the stage crew, who setup and took down lighting and sound rigs for different events which went on over the course of the week.

Summer holiday job as a cinema usher at the Plaza Cinema in Truro, Cornwall. Worked with others checking tickets, directing customers to their seats (it was an allocated seating cinema), cleaning the screens after the film showings, assisting with enquires and with other tasks as requested.
