Started Kelp Micro Systems LLC, a one-person entity dedicated to research and development of solar energy – with a focus on the Pacific Northwest. With the eventual goal of creating a solar farm, I’ve started my journey by learning the fundamentals of Solar Energy Development and Finance through Solar Energy International. I’ve also spent a fair amount of time researching solar energy software and become proficient with Aurora Solar, the leading design and business software for residential solar systems. I recently achieved a Solar Business and Technical Sales certification through Solar Energy International and spent a week in Paonia Colorado getting hands on experience building, commissioning, performance testing and decommissioning roof-mounted, ground-mounted, and ballast solar systems

Completed certification program through Solar Energy International, developing working knowledge and skills, including site analysis, system sizing, array configuration, and performance estimation; electrical design characteristics such as wiring, overcurrent protection, and grounding. Also explored module and inverter specifications and characteristics and took a deep-dive into the National Electrical Code (NEC® 2020) standards as well as other best practices that pertain to designing safe and efficient grid-direct PV systems. Detailed lessons address requirements for disconnects, overcurrent protection, and wire sizing; interconnection requirements and calculations; grounding, ground-faults, and surge protection; calculations and examples for system sizing, inverter selection, and electrical configuration. Also developed financial analysis and system financing skills with a focus on assessing potential residential PV sites and to create and present accurate sales proposals. Skills developed include site safety assessment, customer qualification, solar site analysis, creating conceptual design proposals, performance modeling, system costing, incentives and rebates, financial-benefit analyses, financing options, and the non-financial benefits of photovoltaic systems.

Working as part of a small experimental and entrepreneurial team within Microsoft, co-developed Microsoft 365 Learning Pathways, one of the top SharePoint Framework Open-Source solutions. Envisioned the solution, successfully pitched the project, raised money and hired developers and designers to build the service. At last count, Learning Pathways had over 5 million users. It's available in 10 languages and is in use with Fortune 500 companies worldwide. Served in a variety of Content Development roles throughout my career at Microsoft. - Microsoft 365 Training and Adoption - developed training and adoption content and practices for onboarding and adoption of Microsoft 365 technologies. Worked with Fortune 500 companies worldwide to drive adoption and value realization within the enterprise. Developed Lync Adoption and Training Kit, a one-stop-shop for IT Pros, Support, and Trainers rolling out Lync clients and client technologies in the enterprise. The Kit provides best practices for rollout and adoption and customizable training content that can be re-used, re-branded, and used to build a custom Intranet site. - Managed team of writers, editors, and multi-media producers to develop documentation and training for Microsoft Unified Communications, including the Lync client and audio/video devices. - Drove the design and setup experience for Microsoft Lync audio\video devices, enabling automatic device detection, the ability to make audio test calls and adjustments, and integration of audio devices partner content for troubleshooting and training. - Developed Lync How-to application, a fully customizable application featuring short videos and How-to sections that can be fully customized according to the needs of an organization. The How-to application has been customized and implemented at a variety of organizations, including Amazon, Boeing, and Western Kentucky University.
