Helped shape national and international resilience capacity development by supporting both British, European and International Standards development for over 20 years. Founder of BS25999 (Business Continuity) and both founder and major contributor to the UK City Resilience Standard BS67000 published in 2019. I want to now see these standards contribute to support the emerging risk of Global Catastrophic Risk (GCR) such as AGI / Superintelligence to support a vision for effective International Global Societal Resilience, where the world will ultimately start to standardise and integrate around this important resilience discipline as one.I am a life learner who is now finalising my MSc in Risk, Crisis, and Resilience Management with my final year dedicated to research in 2024/5, focussing on the consideration of AI Existential Safety and the relationships between Artificial Intelligence risk and rewards and how a contained AI / AGI could augment humanities need to build effective resilience towards a potential GCR event. After this initial project I joined the ICL Carrier 400 team who were in the early stages of developing a new technology called "Email" for the worlds largest PTT's such as MCI, Northern Telecom, Bell Atlantic, Gandalf, Telefonica and British Telecom.It was during this time that I met Jack Houldsworth ("Father of OSI") who invited me to initiate a "Fellows Forum" to help look at process improvement initiatives for ICL. This was my link to quality and we presneted to the annual engineering conference at Keel University to support the visions agreed with Jack and the rest of the team. Jack invented the OSI 7 Layer Model which enabled computers from all around the world to talk to each other seamlessly. I took a leaf out of Jacks book back then and I am determined to develop disruptive technologies to help make a difference in the future, especially in his name. A great man I will never forget!
