This research has been translated from bench to factory floor and several publications and funding.Seagrass Health: Advanced fluorescence technologies to understand how and why seagrasses respond to changes in their environment, a methodology that is nowadays considered central in aquatic photobiology. This research was translated from the bench to policy: during the recent expansion of Gladstone Harbour (LNG plant construction) for example, led a team to develop a molecular tool kit for Harbour managers to monitor seagrass health during dredging (funded by the ARC and research contracts from Gladstone Port Authority). As a result of this research, the Federal Department of Environment integrated light-based monitoring of seagrass into the Dredge Management Plan for Abbot Point section 8f (Australian Government; EPBC 2015/7467).
