All things development minus drawing pictures and making web user interfaces! Back-end HTTP APIs and data processing jobs in Java, Scala, and even a little Node/Javascript. Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation and Terraform) in AWS (RDS, Lambda, ECS,..), docker for everything, SQL and databases, mentoring developers (a passion of mine), and writing great code with the help of others on my team.

Software development in C/C++ under Linux on a battery powered embedded system product with very limited hardware resources.

I have worked as an embedded firmware developer mostly in C++ and C on radio and Sensor products. My software development specialties are in networking protocols (MAC to application layer), embedded radios, ultra low power devices, and sensors. More recently in engineering I successfully managed the engineering development (firmware, hardware, Windows software, manufacturing, etc) for the RF-5400V-SR a Harris sensor product. I am now a Product Manger after completing the Harris Rotation Program in August 2008.

Designed multiple software libraries from scratch implementing SNMP, SMTP, SOAP Web Services, and FTP. Libraries were used by other developers in embedded satellite communications product used for remote monitoring of telecommunications assets such as towers. These libraries allowed other developers to quickly add networking elements to their software by exposing an easy to use API. The majority of the work was done in Java with some projects in C# and Javascript.

Assisted students in Introduction to Computer Science programming courses (Programming in Java I and II) with their projects and labs. Taught students about problems in their Java/C++ code and how to avoid them. Also helped students with unix and Sun SPARC station questions.
