I am a professor of neuroscience at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. I have taught: human anatomy, veterinary comparative anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, embryology and the history of medicine. Teaching is my primary scholarly activity.My research activity focuses on how students develop effective study strategies from the variety of learning resources available. As a sideline to this main research program, I create educational models to simulate aspects of the physical exam as well as short tutorial videos. I research lesser-known anatomical structures of the fascia, or connective tissue of the body. I also oversee activity of a small plastination lab to create durable teaching specimens.

Professor Of Neuroscience And AnatomyWest Virginia School Of Osteopathic Medicine Jul 2005 - PresentI have acted as course director of medical gross anatomy, neuroscience, embryology, respiratory, neuromuscular, and musculoskeletal courses. I served as chair of the curriculum committee, faculty chair, and faculty representative to the Board of Governors. I have taught all aspects of gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroscience. I coordinate an anatomy elective for rotating students and offer a series of lectures on the history of medicine. My research investigates learning strategies of medical students and I also attempt to describe new and forgotten anatomical structures.
