About Peter Kibble

I’m an experienced software designer and coder who likes to make the difficult appear elegant and the complex seem simple. I’ve worked at every level including: a coder in teams; Team Leader; hands-off Architect and as CTO. But whatever my role, my motivation is alway the challenge of delivering the best solution possible for the project and budget constraints.Over the last few years my major effort has been the puzzle app Stenciletto. This is joint effort with my Graphic Designer partner. It is .NET based with a custom vector graphics and animation framework. It can be found in the iOS App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. Stenciletto uses our in-app purchase implementation on all platforms, and full Apple Game Center and Google Play Games integration. Before Stenciletto we published two iOS image processing apps, but launched them just before Instagram went big, so we eventually retired them. We also had two families of education products which were very successful in Schools for a few years. Grid Magic was a graphics design package, which won an international Ed-Tech award, beating Apple and Lego. And Go-Robo which animated physical infrared robots and was a finalist for the same awards. To fund our app development I have worked freelance on a wide range of projects for a number of customers. I’ve worked in software development for Gaming, Banking, Insurance, Music Publishing, Pharmaceuticals, Enterprise Software, Finance, Cloud Hosting, Medical Technology, Design Agencies, UNESCO and more. I’ve done Greenfield applications and updated, fixed and upgraded legacy applications. I’ve been hand-on and hands-off; a manger; a team leader; a team member; a mentor; an application designer; a coder; an architect and a documenter. I’m happy doing user interfaces all the way to back-end work and will take on short and long projects.

  • Buzz Bingo
    Consultant
    Buzz Bingo Aug 2020 - Nov 2020
    Nottingham, England, Gb
Helping Buzz in the rollout of a very big business transformation project. We got the Mobile App and the initial test clubs working, then Covid lockdown came again and the rollout paused. I also had the pleasure of designing and developing Buzz's first Blazor / WASM app. A server-less solution using C# in the browser running on Web Assembly with an Azure Function API backed by Azure Storage and using Azure AD for authentication and user-role authorisation.
  • Buzz Bingo
    Consultant
    Buzz Bingo Apr 2019 - Mar 2020
    Nottingham, England, Gb
Another happy year at Buzz. I did a shed load of things while I was there. Primarily being the UK technical liaison for their new outsourced customer App; designing the app security layer; creating a security test-rig and developing a high-volume Azure Function to deliver managed content to the app. There were legacy APIs which need tending. Other things that broke and needed fixing urgently. Translating techno-babble to English. And all outside IR35.

  • Sagentia
    Desktop Development
    Sagentia Mar 2011 - Jul 2011
I was asked to develop a ‘shiny’, Dove branded, C# / WPF / WCF, multi-lingual, XML driven Wizard which managed the downloading of hair-test readings from a USB device and ‘on-the-fly’ firmware updates to the device. In the background, a Windows Service uploaded the reading data to a central server with the Wizard questionnaire results while monitoring for updated content and firmware. This highly complex software had to be usable by hairdressers and product demonstrators in 40 different countries in at least 10 languages; and had to be very simple to use, with minimal training. I also created the Windows Installers and the base installation guide and user guide, in a highly diagrammatical format which was the basis of the translated versions. This was a project I really enjoyed as the core is very complex, the user interface is beautiful, simple, highly accessible and based entirely on Unilevers’s Dove branding guidelines and it had to be developed in an extremely short time.
  • Unesco
    Consultant
    Unesco Nov 2010 - Dec 2010
    Paris, Ile De France, Fr
I was at UNESCO fixing an incomplete WPF / C# / MVVM / WCF internal application to the point where they could scope the features needed to complete the application. This application accepted international expense data from the UN headquarters and allowed it to validated and corrected before being posted to SAP. There was a second phase of this work in Feb 2011.
  • Sequence Collective Limited
    Technical Writer / Technical Consultant
Sequence Collective Limited Aug 2010 - Nov 2010
    Cardiff, Gb
I worked at Sequence on a very important new UK Government eNotice portal. This high-profile portal publishes all EU contracts over £125K, all UK public contracts over £10K and many UK contracts less than £125K. This is a robust, redundant, complex, high-availability, high-volume application with a great political significance. I spent about 75% of my time working with Business Link and SERCO to get the Architecture and Operations documentation up to the detail and quality demanded by HMRC. The other 25% of my time was working with the development, networks teams and the business management; helping to sort out technical and business processes as well as working on the design of sub-systems.
  • Medical Protection Society

  • Thomas Miller
    Senior It Consultant
    Thomas Miller May 1991 - Oct 1995
    London, England, Gb
