Peter Kuttner FAIA is a Principal with CambridgeSeven, a Boston-based design firm whose work includes museums, educational and transportation facilities, and hospitality design, and served as President from 2000 through 2016. The firm received the national 1993 AIA Architecture Firm Award, and provides planning, graphic design, and exhibit design, as well as architecture services. Peter specializes in informal and formal learning settings, as in museums and college facilities, with a particular focus on exhibits and interactive and participatory experiences in the sciences.Peter was the Principal-in-Charge of the Boston Children’s Museum’s LEED Gold expansion, winner of the AIA New England Design Award, the Mayor’s Green Building Award, the Boston Preservation Alliance Award, and the national Waterfront Center Award. He completed the expansion of the New England Aquarium and the Master Planning for the Museum of Science, Boston, both focusing on new sustainability goals and growth in the visitor experience. Peter has completed a new Children's Museum in Hohhot, China, a Science Museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a new Children's Zoo at Franklin Park Zoo, the Knock Knock Children's Museum in Baton Rouge, and design for the US Marshals Museum in Fort Smith Arkansas.Nationally Peter served on the AIA Board for 3 years as Regional Director for New England followed by 2 years as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. During that time he held roles at NCARB on the IDP and Practice Analysis Committees. He then served as Regional Director on the AIA College of Fellows Board and was the 2020 Chancellor of the College. He has been active in the Boston Society of Architects, serving as Commissioner of Chapter Affairs, Public Affairs, Vice President, and President in 1998, and as the COF representative most recently. He also served two terms as public Director on the Board of the Association of General Contractors of Massachusetts.
