Home of "The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth", the Calgary Stampede is a not-for-profit organization encompassing over 260 acres and housing over 40 meeting/convention/trade show spaces in 520,000 square feet of total indoor space and over a million square feet of trade show flat space.Mid-term, long-term and short-term planning of year-round catering food services for the Calgary Stampede 10-day show, conferences, conventions, trade shows and special events. With a staff base of up to 200 I was involved in successfully planning/overseeing events up to 3300 guests for a single event and up to 4800 for multiple events on a single night keeping high standards of customer in the forefront. The diversity of the venues at the stampede meant that events could vary from rodeos to high-class galas to temporary and permanent cash food units. Large multi-day events included events such as the Global Petroleum Show, Canadian Volleyball Competition and the Tim Horton's Brier.Managing the catering during the Calgary Stampede 10-day show required planning and overseeing events at over 25 cash and private function venues per day. Logistics, communication, customer service and teamwork were all critical to create a positive guest experience in all locations.Over the years I created and maintained a network of over 25 liquor/wine agents to assist with planning seasonal and annual wine lists and to assist with supply/pricing to meet company objectives.
