About Peter Löfgren

Welcome to my page!I have more than 25 years experience within Innovation Management and Business Development. In my current role, I am the Co-founder and Managing Director of SynerLeap, an open arena powered by ABB aiming to shorten Innovation cycles and increase value creation by collaboration with startups. To date SynerLeap has in short time grown from working only with startups in Sweden, to working with 180+ startups from 26+ countries from five continents. Around two new industrial collaborations are started every week (in total 230+) and ABB has invested in and reached global partnerships with 17 of our startups members-two have become UnicornsI have extensive experience from working in Boards, and have e.g been part of an IPO. Furthermore I have a handful of patents and have helped to propel new technologies and products in various industrial fields. As an Education foundation I have a Master of Science Degree from Chalmers University and a Licentiate of Technology Degree (Swedish intermediate PhD degree) from Royal Institute of Technology. Moreover I am a certified Project Management Professional PMP at the Project Management Institute (PMI) and have a Executive MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship as well as a Business Administration for Graduate Engineers Diploma from Stockholm School of Economics.My passion is to make a difference. I love to set high targets, to engage and involve stakeholders and team in order to deliver with high quality. I extensively use my 11k+ professional network to find solutions and connect the dots. During my career I have had most roles and positions involving management and team leadership in one way or another, skills that have been endorsed frequently. I am visionary, like to challenge myself and team members, and I strive to see the big picture often involving cross border or cross disciplines activities. I trust people, find it very easy to delegate, but am at the same time very target oriented and always drive full throttle towards success.In my spare time, playing the electric guitar is another passion. Planning and Heading execution of an ABB global Need Analysis within the Simulation Area followed by formation of a global contact network among experts and management. Formulation of Strategy & RoadMap followed by execution. Among the results can be mentioned arranging two global conferences involving CTO, key-note speakers from companies as Nissan, Airbus & Proctor & Gamble sharing their simulation best practices. Furthermore, contracts with vendors of simulation software were renegotiated, and licenses were pooled together for increasing flexibility and heavily reducing costs. Common High Performance Computing clusters were formed and utilization level was increased significantly (read several factors) due to optimized computer management solutions.During these years total ABB costs were frozen or decreased at the same time as number of users increased with a factor of three(!) globally.

    Headed several complex technology & product development projects involving end customers as SSAB, Corus and ThyssenKrupp. Projects resulted in installations of novel electromagnetic technologies for e.g. stabilizing of the steel strip in the continuous galvanizing process and optimization of flow conditions and finally the product quality of the continuous casting processes. Solutions implied higher production rate and increased quality. Projects were involving around 50 people at the most covering a wide range of expertise.

    Worked in the R&D team for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) development in Hanau, Germany, as a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) expert. Main tasks were to support the development teams for two families of Gas Insulated Switchgears with simulations and to transfer my simulation knowledge to their experts. In addition I headed a full scale GIS explosion experiment where evacuation slots in a mobile GIS container were tested for the first time. With gas dynamics simulation the evacuation slots were designed in order to open automatically by means of the overpressure, in case of an explosion. The test was successful and witnessed by the whole R&D department lined up waiting with interest for the ‘big bang’..
