The project cost is approximately $800Mil with a commencement date in November 2009 and due for completion by December 2011.The key responsibility was to safely deliver the pipeline and power construction scope of the project on time and budget within the quality parameters whilst actively managing the environment stakeholders, client and risk. Personal Achievements•Successfully leading a team to deliver a fast track large diameter fully welded pipeline and civil power works within tight time and budgetary constraints.•Achieving a high degree of safety compliance in challenging environment.•Developing innovative techniques in consultation with subcontract and self perform crews to achieve outstanding results.•Successfully developing and implementing extremely stringent environmental controls in conjunction with the environmental and stakeholder teams within the construction team under intense third party scrutiny.•Maintaining tight environmental, quality and stakeholder sensitive operations over in difficult geotechnical conditions during the wet period of the year with no major non-compliances.•Sourcing and developing a large high performing team to undertake the works.•Fast track preparation of preliminary project documentation to enable construction works to commence in a timely manner. The project involved a peak construction project team of approximately 1300 No. personnel working simultaneously on up to 50 work fronts with the pipeline component being completed within 12 months. The key responsibility was to safely deliver the pipeline scope of the project on time and budget whilst actively managing the environment stakeholders, client and risk. The Southern Regional Water Pipeline consisted of approximately 100 km of 1200mm diameter dual flow pipeline and associated infrastructure to deliver potable water from the Molendinar Water Treatment Plant of the Gold Coast to the Brisbane water grid at Mount Crosby.The Eastern Pipeline Interconnector consisted of approximately 9km of DICL pipe and associated infrastructure connecting Redlands Shire Council to Logan Shire Council potable water infrastructure.Both projects $850Mill were delivered within legislated timeframes through a variety of regional, rural and built up areas. The project had a peak direct labour work force of approximately 450 No. personnel and was completed in approximately 11 months.The EIS process was achieved in record time and land acquisition and approvals were achieved predominantly through direct negotiation as part of a low impact strategy.Personal Achievements•Fast tracking approvals processes to achieve maximum productivity on site by removing road blocks for construction.•Effective management of survey, traffic control, land liaison and approvals to promote a seamless service to pipeline construction delivery.•Effective utilisastion of GIS technologies to achieve an effective stakeholder engagement strategy.•Successful procurement of large quantity of water in drought and sensitive stakeholder climate through effective engagement of variety of concerned parties in coordination with communications team.
