  • Santa Clara University
    Undergraduate Researcher
Santa Clara University Feb 2023 - Jul 2023
    Santa Clara, California, United States
I researched the effects of axial slots in airfoils on coefficient of lift at high angles of attack using Star CCM+ fluid simulations for applications in vertical-axis wind turbines. I optimized a 2D fluid simulation of low-speed airflow over a NACA 0012 airfoil and automated batched simulations sweeping through multiple AoA, mesh properties, and other variables in order to determine their effect on the simulation solution.
  • Stellar Exploration, Inc.
    Project Intern
Stellar Exploration, Inc. Jul 2021 - Sep 2021
San Luis Obispo, California, United States
I fully developed, designed, and delivered a novel micro vacuum chamber leak-testing apparatus for rapid bulk testing of satellite propulsion system flight hardware. I proposed a solution to accelerate the qualification testing of approximately 400 solenoid valves for use in a hydrazine cubesat propulsion system, and developed a custom vacuum bell jar system and testing procedure which could increase the speed of the helium leak testing process by several orders of magnitude. I further developed this design to be adaptable to several other leak-testing workflows, refined the design through several design review meetings, and successfully managed the manufacturing process through to delivery and system integration.
  • Stellar Exploration, Inc.
    Project Intern
Stellar Exploration, Inc. Jul 2020 - Sep 2020
San Luis Obispo, California, United States
I assisted with the development and manufacturing of cubesat propulsion system hardware. I designed and built custom tooling for forming laser cut blanks into multiple sizes of fixtures for fastening plumbing, pressure transducers, pumps, and other hardware to the fuel tank and propulsion system assembly. This hardware is currently in orbit on a commercial customer’s satellite launched by SpaceX’s Transporter 2 mission, as well as is installed on NASA’s CAPSTONE lunar orbiter awaiting launch in May 2022.
  • Stellar Exploration, Inc.
    Project Intern
Stellar Exploration, Inc. Jul 2019 - Sep 2019
San Luis Obispo, California, United States
I constructed, tested, and delivered a power subsystem for a Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite. This project gave me significant experience working with 18650 Li-Ion cells, PCB assembly and inspection, electrical assembly and testing, and clean room/ESD safety protocol. I worked closely with electrical and mechanical engineers manufacturing the power system, analyzing telemetry, and troubleshooting production issues. This subsystem is currently in orbit in an ICEYE SAR satellite.
