About Peter Wu

Over twenty years of progressive experience in Information Technology specializing in business systems design, analysis, development, testing, performance tuning and production support. In one of my recent experiences as Lead Engineer at S&P Global, I oversaw the planning and implementation of a corporate GraphQL endpoint, schema-stitched across 300 application databases for broad-spectrum data access to incubate a generative AI future, as a foundational step to empower a 20,000-person organization, to ideate, as any collectively intelligent community, at its most optimal, is apt to do. Even process steps that are naturally incremental by design take on a revolutionary tempo in this information continuum where prompt-driven, sub-graph extraction to power UX generation, drive continuous improvement at the speed of thought. As AI-assisted and conversationally driven becomes the norm in application design, the ideation process transforms the very culture that it serves, forever shifting UX paradigm out of static workflows and primordial form-based interaction into a dynamic workflow of the conversation, where next steps are predicated on the natural ebbs and flows of creative discourse. The context of the conversation, persisted as “fields and prompts”, becomes the application, one that adapts and grows as needs demand, gaining efficiency with every new interaction with fewer words spoken each time to facilitate desired outcomes. Legacy microapps are reformulated as custom functions to extend the range and capacity of the conversation in a continual process of application modernization with new function development on the rise to incorporate novel capacities like causal AI and multi-modal sentiment extraction to power ratings calibrations in the volatile crypto market and market forecast in general. • Large-scale system re-engineering experience • Sharded database architectures employing relational as well as NoSQL technology such as Pinecone, OrbitDB, IPFS, MongoDB and Neo4J • Early pioneer of distributed multi-dimensional data stores. • Expertise in fault-tolerant and error preventive system design • Expertise in high performing and automated systems • Full stack software engineer • Langchain, Ray, MLflow, Azure OpenAI Service, Semantic Kernel, Prompt Engineering, GPT-3, Pandas, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Pinecone, GraphQL, JSON Schema, Jolt, AWS, OrbitDB, IPFS, Websockets, JMS, API/REST, Postman, IntelliJ, Git, ServiceNow, Splunk, Neo4J, MongoDB, Oracle, Node.js, Spring, Ajax, React, Boostrap, Jenkins, StarUML, Confluence, Java, Maven

Listed skills include Integration, Databases, Requirements Analysis, Business Process, and 46 others.

♦ Generating GraphQL schemas across our corporate database portfolio and "stitching" them together across natural keys, enables pervasive access, to our most recessed and nuanced content, to drive, not only intra-application integration within our four walls, but deep integration with our service providers, customers, investors, regulators and acquisition targets to boot. ♦ Workflows are dynamic with future steps, subject to change for real-time adaptation with every change time-stamped, every change reason logged and every adapted workflow templatized and conditions-mapped for future execution. ♦ Unsupervised learning across the whole of the corporation, by leveraging transfer learning; and the Langchain framework to vectorize the corporate GraphQL endpoint for LLM interoperability.♦ Surgical, prompt-driven, sub-graph extraction from the federated corporate schema generates dynamic UI frameworks to integrate microapps on demand to satisfy user interface and workflow requirements. ♦ Form-based input medium evolves into a conversational setting in which prompt engineering provides the focus and efficiency of a guided interaction, skipping over unneeded workflow steps for input already provided. At the end of the day, there is no application. There is only data, transformed on demand into useful interaction. ♦ Deep neural networks (DNN) extracts investor sentiment from the financial news stream and combines with technical indicator features of S&P’s stock data into a deep belief network (DBN) for any covered investment. ♦ Multimodal fusion provided by Azure OpenAI Service extract information from X/Twitter across multiple modalities, such as audio, speech, text, faces, emotions, and scenes to create a rich and searchable index as well as train DBNs beyond sentiment extraction of the written word. “It’s not what you say but how you say it” - Albert Mehrabian (only 7% of the information in speech is contained in the words).

Took over support and maintenance as lead developer of this 300,000 line Quality Control application written in the OMNIS programming language (with no prior experience) post-separation from parent company, Lockheed Martin. Duties include (1) re-architecting the system to accommodate Boeing QC data; (2) making further architectural changes, to segregate session variables into a static interface layer essentially decoupling the business rules and making them stateless such that all future modifications can be made without taking the system off-line; (3) updating the pessimistic locking and transaction control mechanism to provide automated record unlocking; (4) updating SAP interface to access employee profile data, work orders and purchase orders per ULA specifications; (5) streamlining and automating the engineering change request process – by which engineering changes (to the rocket) are reflected in PIRS – so that changes that would have taken 2 weeks can now be implemented in 2 hours; (6) making numerous bug fixes that translates into 101 new releases of the application in the past 18 months; (7) building SAS (Self Archival System) as a subsystem to PIRS that automatically archives all code and metadata changes (backend and front-end) at the moment that they occur and synchronizes them with the enterprise code repository using Oracle AQ (Advanced Queuing) and SVNKit; (8) extending SAS to provide coverage for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and to implement an advance application security overlay that intercepts and prevents unauthorized code/metadata/structural changes.

Led a team of ten programmers to design and develop the Global Asset Registry (GAR), a native XML database, to register and syndicate the digital assets of the Warner Music Group Companies. The GAR includes album covers, thumbnails, video and audio recordings for global reuse and syndication. Each digital asset is registered as an instance of its descriptor class, expressed as an XML schema using XML Authority, and maintained in global metadata repository, XML Canon. Each company (such as Atlantic Records, Maverick Records and Warner Electric Arts) maintains their own descriptor but shares global descriptor elements (artist name, track title, etc.) within the repository. Each company can then independently design structurally dissimilar descriptors to accommodate unique asset types while employing a vocabulary common to all participating companies. I implemented GAR as a native XML database leveraging object technology from eXcelon to support schema variations that require intelligent and adaptive containment. Submitted asset registration documents are automatically validated, dynamically indexed and saved as XML fragments to the database binder where they are logically integrated with the global DOM. Related fragments can be grouped into collections of XPointers to form Composite Assets. I implemented SeeBeyond’s workflow technology to transform and aggregate assets for syndication. Source to destination schema mappings are compiled into a pipeline of XSLT nodes which decompose and recombine assets to meet MP3.com and CDNow format requirements. Aggregated assets are pushed to syndication partners using Kinecta’s ICE-based content delivery system.

Led a team of seven engineers and marketing analysts in the design and development of the DIRECTV Data Warehouse. It consist of ninety-four simple and complex dimensions. Each department or group is restricted by multi-level security to the set of dimensions and fields relevant to their business. Each table and field and their structural relationship is defined in a persistent meta-layer that is contained in ORACLE object tables and instantiated as a Java servlet by the Netscape Enterprise Server. The field definitions are used by the JAVA client to instantiate field pick, field transformation and data entry objects used in the report builder workflow. The client is multi-threaded so that the user can go back to any step in the workflow and pick additional fields at the same time lookup values are being loaded for fields that have already been already picked. A generic paging object enables the population of lookups of any size. The event name lookup for instance requires over 50,000 values. Newly defined reports are added dynamically to a hierarchical menu navigator. Reports can be combined (UNION, INTERSECT or MINUS) by selecting from a list of reports with common fields. Drill-downs reports can be created by selecting from a list of reports that have at least one field in common. The order of the report selection determines the order of the drill down. Several reports, each spawned as a different thread, can be executed concurrently. Bitmap indexes, table partitioning and STAR_TRANSFORMATION optimization ensures scalability and consistent performance. Typically, a report instance requires no more than ten seconds to run against a fact table with over 100 million records.
