Particle Accelerator Alignment Engineer- Group Leader
CurrentAccelerator Systems Division (ASD) Alignment Engineer for the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).• Develop and use software for sub-millimeter accuracy of photogrammetric calibration and measurements • Develop least squares adjustment algorithms, statistical and sensitivity analysis for network measurement data• Develop software in Matlab and C++ languages to interface with laser trackers, perform coordinate transformations and least-squares-adjustment of metrology measurement data. • Create and maintain a Geographical Information System for the NSCL/FRIB facility—employing data fusion and database management to render survey and alignment data in a projected spatial format for dynamic and interactive query. • Analyze metrology spatial data from laser trackers and theodolites for the alignment of nuclear accelerator beam-line components. • Perform mathematical standard error analysis of network monument locations to insure alignment absolute accuracy standards at sub-millimeter resolution. • Review mechanical CAD drawings to insure correct placement of beam-line components. • Operate laser trackers, digital levels, theodolites and CMM arms for monument network campaigns and component alignment.
