Taking a long break (I'm reluctant to use the word retirement....as I'm sure I will still have plenty of work to do!) After nearly 40 years of financial services employment I have written my own prescription and I am taking my own medicine (often given to many clients over the years) to take an 'employment break' from the world of financial planning advice. My current (short-term) plan is simple. Create more time to spend with my wife, my family, my friends and to do 'other non-work related things' (whatever that might look like). The longer-term plan and future is exciting and yet to be decided (who knows where this next chapter will take me). Financial services and especially financial planning is an excellent career. It's not easy (and getting harder) but rewarding and often fun (sometimes with a small "f"). It has been a privilege to be allowed into the private, personal and financial lives of the individuals and families I have worked with (and one which should not be taken for granted). Thank you.And thank you to anyone I have worked with over the many years and especially to those that I have worked with on many occasions (why would you keep letting me back in ?!?!?). For many it probably won't be the last time you hear from me (sorry) as I'm sure I still have a bit more to offer and life left in me yet!
