BRR were a relatively small firm, and so we faced all the main challenges faced by small businesses in difficult economic circumstances.As the sole litigator dealing with personal injury and dispute resolution across a number of branch offices, communicating with clients via e-mail, phone and Skype became crucial. The variety and scope of different disputes coming in from commercial and personal clients resulted in good working relationships being established with a wide variety of specialist counsel.

Responsible for all personal injury work at the firm and a large number of other types of dispute resolution. Also involved in business planning, marketing strategies and practice management.We managed to establish a very small law firm having a reputation and visibility well over and above some of its far larger competitors. This was based primarily on good client care, transparency and honesty in respect of fees, and a commercial approach to all of the advice we gave.

Head of department responsible for case progression, marketing, processes, financial management and HR issues, in addition to running full caseload of primarily personal injury and professional negligence claims.Also member of management board involved in all aspects of running a busy multi-disciplinary, multi-site legal practice.I took on a small department and, with the support and energy of a number of colleagues, managed to transform it into the fastest growing and most profitable department in the firm, increasing fee income fourfold and far exceeding industry standard profitability.The most satisfying metric was however the virtual 100% rate of staff retention, and almost 3/4 of our new work coming through recommendation and reputation.
