I am the Building Technology Division Head for Simpson Gumpertz & Heger's Chicago office. Since joining Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in 2001, I have designed, investigated, and rehabilitated both structures and building enclosures. My experience includes designing, investigating, and rehabilitating a variety of building enclosures and structures. My projects involve exterior enclosure consulting for new construction, rehabilitating existing structures and enclosures, historic preservation, building enclosure commissioning, investigating non-performing building enclosures, and providing expert services related to construction litigation.I am also an active member in many professional industry groups and currently serves as chair of The Masonry Society's Technical Activities Committee. Previously, while in Simpson Gumpertz Heger's Boston office, I served as chair of the Structural Engineering Institute of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers. I publish regularly on multiple topics, including historic preservation and building enclosure commissioning. I lecture at industry conferences, universities, and regional chapters of national associations. I am a licensed professional engineer in over 25 states and a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois, Nebraska, and Hawaii.
