The Belgian Welding Institute (BWI) is an independent expert centre for welding technologies and materials weldability. Our activities cover a wide range of applied research projects, advice and testing services, and training courses.The BWI provides internationally recognised education and trainings in welding coordination (IWE, IWT, IWS, RWC-B) and welding inspection (IWIP, VT2) , workshops from our standard offer and customized trainings on demand.As head of training I do coordinate al our training courses from a technical point of view. I do give also a lot of training myself. This gives me the unique opportunity to transfer my welding knowledge and experience in a passionate way.

From my background my focuss are the filler metals and more specifically stick electrodes and cored wires. (filler metals with slag system)One of my projects is technical benchmarking of filler metals with slag system - with my obtained experience at Castolin, Böhler and now Lastek, i'm one of the best placed persons to judge the strengths and weaknesses of a filler metal.As i do speak italian and the focuss is on M&R selling, i'm also the account manager for Lastek Italy. This company does sell filler metals for welding.In this function i give technical support to colleagues and customers from the industry who are facing welding problems. This does mean that i recommend the welding process, the filler metal to use and give advice about the welding procedure. (in other words: i do offer solutions to welding problems)I give also technical training (internally as well as to customers) about our different brands.FinalIy, i do also work with the factories developing our welding products (filler metals) in case an improvement is requested.

This company does sell big pressure vessels for the chemical and petrochemical industry. (80% export)Engineering of titanium cladded pressure vessels according ASME VIII. Starting from the making of the calculations, over the making of the drawings and working with production department till the transport of a pressure vessel (weight around 600 tons) to Antwerp harbour. Being a welding engineer besides mechanical engineer i could combine these values in my work.

This company is selling filler metals and equipment for welding.Firstly, i was product manager brazing. In this function i gave technical support to colleagues and customers regarding brazing problems.Afterwards, i promoted to the function of service manager where i became the responsable person of the M&R welding shop. There i managed all the welding work executed for customers, in our shop as well as on site.
