Owner & Chief Remote Pilot
Consultant & Installation Contractor
Currently, I am working part-time as a consultant / installation contractor to Anttel. I previously worked at Anttel as a BDM / Channel Partner Manager.Anttel is based in Brisbane, and has good network coverage there. However, their network coverage of Melbourne was still in it's early days when I was working as a BDM for Anttel. This led to frustration on my part and from the Partners, when I was receiving repeated knockbacks on dealer applications, that were deemed to be "not feasible".Anttel have now agreed to expand their coverage in Melbourne, and are utilising my services and expertise extensively, to achieve this.My roleMy main focus at Anttel is split fairly equally between pre-installation (site survey work) and actual installation services, as follows;* Conventional site survey work, prior to a feasibility study. This consists of taking detailed photos from the roof of a prospect site, then sending them to the Ops Manager in Sydney, or CTO in Brisbane, for analysis. Photos are also taken of the proposed cable route, and equipment mounting areas.* Drone surveys, when it is too difficult or too dangerous to get on the roof. The drone is also used to take photos at up to 15m above the roof, when a clear line of sight cannot be established at roof level.* I also perform complex installations of major base station and relay station equipment, including routers, switches, fibre runs, and DC power equipment.* Equipment upgrades, troubleshooting/repairs, and dish re-alignments.* Single-stage (up to 3m) customer installations, including mast, dish, cable, router, etc. Another contractor will do up to 5-stage (15m) installations.Achievements* Doing an entire new base station build by myself in a week and a half, whereas previously, 3 highly experienced employees from Brisbane would fly down for a week, to do the same job!* Introducing new procedures into the site survey process, significantly reducing the number of new installs that don't work!
