Nine years ago Peter Mumford took over the McGrath rights to the Northern Beaches as the first franchisee of what has become one of the top four, highly acclaimed and very successful, Australian Real Estate franchise groups in Australia. Throughout this period Peter opened, grew and sold various McGrath offices across the Northern Beaches.

With its origins founded as Private Sellers (which became Insight Real Estate), Peter purchased Charles Park First National and rebranded both to form Charles Park Insight Real Estate.

Amongst other things, Peter has created, built, operated and sold a number of award-winning businesses across the restaurant, catering and event management industry. Crave Coffee Plantation and Coffee Roasters was created and sold as Peter entered the real estate arena. Crave Coffee continues to operate to this day.

Peter’s iconic Blue Rock Catering & Events company started out from the home office and within five years the group became the largest boutique caterer in Sydney. The company won contracts with the likes of: Fox Studios, Fort Dennison, Centrepoint Function Centre, Scientia UNSW, Australian Museum, Sega World. Clients included: Citibank, American Express, Clayton Utz, Freehills, Deutsche Bank, just to name a few. Blue Rock also won many awards including Caterer of the Year with The Restaurant and Catering Association (industry body) for NSW in 2000 and soon after Caterer of the Year for NSW and Australia Wide. In 2001, the company was ranked 23rd in Business Review Weekly’s Fast 100. Blue Rock was acquired in 2001 by Amalgamated Holdings (Rydges Hotels Group).

At 23 years of age Peter Mumford opened his first restaurant on the mid-north-coast of NSW. He quickly became not only an enterprising chef, but also opened Flairs Catering and created two other restaurants. This entrepreneurial ambition and drive saw him morph his inherent hospitality talents into the catering space.
