Peter Mwesiga (PMP/CM), is an ardent leadership and Project Management professional currently boosting over 9 years experience in the Electricity distribution sector. I am currently a Project Manager, leading strategic projects at Umeme Ltd, Uganda's leading electricity distribution Utility. I have led projects on integrating decentralized and centralized energy systems, slum management energy service systems and mainstreaming Electricity cooking in Uganda. I am currently leading strategic pilot Project to explore how established Utility companies like Umeme can collaborate with new and emerging electricity technologies like solar mini-grids and appliance financing firms to accelerate electricity access, viably, more cost effectively and faster, while distributing more reliable energy at reduced distribution losses. I am also helping pilot collaborative approaches in working with low income communities to improve electricity safety and distribution efficiencies while improving the social-economic well being of these communities.While leading district teams, I helped in setting up a Customer Service Branch, raised Safety awareness and customer service in the Centers he has led, Created knit and motivated teams, and helped to improve profitability with improved collections and reducing costs. I have garnered experience in Credit Control Management, Revenue collection, Staff leadership, budget and cost management, Workplace and community safety improvement, stakeholder Management, project Management, Risk analysis and Management, leadership development, Staff motivation among others. I am a big believer in working through teams, by creating, improving, motivating, challenging and developing teams to achieve set objectives. I am a proud father of a son and two daughters and my wife Sheilla is my constant foundation for stability and improvement.

Key stakeholders include MECS, ERA, MEMD, Umeme, Energrow, GIZ, and other players in the energy sector. • Financing mechanism options being developed with Key stakeholders, including government departments, financing institutions, and development partners. -

It aims at improving electricity safety, bringing down commercial losses, easing the customer connection process, and bringing services closer to the customer. Working with community leaders, and building partnerships, we seek to implement viable initiatives that benefit the community and improve livelihoods. Working with interdepartmental teams as the project lead, the following have already been achieved. • Created over 5 partnerships with existing institutions working in or close to the community to complement Umeme's effort to improve project design, execution, and acceptance by the stakeholders. These include the College of Engineering at Makerere University (CEDAT), The Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), The Food Technology Incubation Centre Under Makerere University (FTBIC), Act Together, UYDEL among others. • Identified and supported the registration of several community-based artisans to support the project as trainers of different self employable skills. • Completed the identification, design, and approval of pilot project initiatives , including food entrepreneurship training, retraining of internal wiring technicians, installation of street lighting in dark spots in the targeted slum communities, among others. Implementation of all these initiatives is ongoing. • Completed the mapping and creation of new connection readiness matrix for the project area to support further initiatives towards easing acquisition of safe connections. • Completed the identification of beneficiaries for the initiatives, recruitment of local community representatives to support as project champions and ease project acceptance. -
