In 2010 I have co-founded the CyberGrid GmbH, a Vienna based company specializing in development and deployment of Demand Response (DR) and Virtual Power Plant systems (VPP). As Managing Director of R&D department my role is to design, guide and supervise the research and development of the full range of flexibility management technologies, known as CyberNoc. Under my management the following projects has been realized:- Development of proprietary state-of-the-art CyberNoc computer system,- Commercial VPP deployment at Elektro Ljubljana for supply of tertiary reserve for Slovenian TSO ELES,- Commercial VPP deployment at GEN-I for supply of tertiary reserve for Austrian TSO APG,- Pilot VPP deployments at Vattenfall (Germany), GDF Suez (Belgium), EDF (France), EKZ (Switzerland).- Co-funded R&D projects in the Smart Grids area comprise MAESHA, TALENT, CrossBow, Magnitude, InteGRID, FutureFlow, Flexiciency (Horizon 2020), HybridVPP4DSO (Austrian CEF), evolvDSO (FP7), eBADGE (FP7, technical coordinator), cyberPRICE (Eurostars, main coordinator) and EDRC (Austrian CEF, main coordinator).

On this position I was responsible for the vision, the strategy and the management of the business unit which has four main interests:- Power SmartGrids (optimization of power flows at transmission and distribution power networks, intelligent demand and generation response)- Factory Energy Systems (boiler rooms, HVAC, compressor stations, intelligent power demand response) - Cogeneration and trigeneration from various sources (natural gas, landfill gas, biogas) and technologies (engine, turbine, gasification, ORC, fuel cells)- Hydrogen technologiesUnder my leadership the unit successfully vent through gradual transformation from conventional energy technologies to advanced low-carbon (ORC, hydrogen) and SmartGrids technologies (KIBERnet). The extensive research and development was supported by several different European and national research funds: GCCOGEN (Ministry of Defense, Slovenia), TESTLAB (Ministry of Defense, Slovenia), OPEDiOm (European Regional Development Fund), ServisTSO (European Regional Development Fund), HyCore (European Regional Development Fund), KIBERnet (European Regional Development Fund), EEnOT (European Regional Development Fund), MIRABEL (EU Framework Program 7).

My tasks involved management and coordination of work both within the department as well as execution of various projects, such as studies, introduction of new products and services, and market expansion. In addition, I was also actively cooperating with foreign exchanges, electricity companies and international organizations. Projects in this period comprise:- Establishment of Wood Biomass Exchange, 2004.- Expansion of Power Exchange to SEE, 2004-2006- Development of Anglo-Dutch Auction trading software application, 2005.- Establishment of national registry for Guaranties of Origin of electrical energy, 2006.
