With a passion for digital, understanding of marketing, a curiosity in psychology and a deep technical knowledge, my personal superpower is my ability to communicate effectively with anyone from clients, developers, creatives through to non-technical stakeholders. I can translate complex topics into easily understandable terms, with my holistic business, strategic, UX and marketing lens, bridging the gap between these various worlds.Over the past 20 years I’ve founded and ran a web hosting company, until its sale in 2018. During that time I also managed a small digital marketing agency, and acquired a web and app development agency. As Director of these companies, I oversaw everything from operations and strategic direction to team management, sales, and marketing.After a well earned break I spent time advising and mentoring within the local startup scene before re-entered the workforce in the advertising agency space. It all started back in 2003, when I saw an opportunity to help local non-technical businesses gain and manage their online presence, so I started Ingenuity Hosting. By 2007, we had a solid client base and expanded into digital marketing with SiteMost, introducing clients to social media, email marketing, and search engine optimization.In 2014, I acquired Kintek Digital to complete our suite of digital services covering design, development, hosting, and online marketing.After the sale of Ingenuity, I mentored in the Brisbane startup community and joined the AI Digital Asset Management team Sortal as their Head of Growth. I also re-established my digital consultancy, Newsome Ideas Co. providing strategy, marketing, project management and development services to SMEs. My next adventures took me into ad agency land which I love - providing me the perfect playground to apply my unique blend of technical and people skills. I’ve helped expand the digital offering at BCM Group, heading up their digital production team and provide digital strategy and performance services to BCM’s sister agency - Ivy PR. I’ve also been technical director for brand and digital agency Type + Pixel, supporting them while their head of digital was on maternity leave. Finally landing back in the SME and Startup world as GM for Fractal - a marketing and growth agency focused on helping innovators, disruptors and small business owners discover new leads/markets and scale their customer acquisition.
