Social EntrepreneurVision • Energy • Momentum Aug 2019 - Jun 2020Rockland, MaineI took a personal sabbatical to build a super energy-efficient residence in Rockland, Maine and to study the strategic economic development opportunities for Mid Coast Maine. My family and I designed a home to come close to passive house certification standards and to consider all the necessities of sustainable residential home design. Both energy efficiency and walkable neighborhoods are key to the development of new housing stock in Maine, as is investment in rural and coastal communities. Serving as General Contractor and hiring some of the most professional tradespeople in the area, I built in Rockland's South End, a neighborhood undergoing revitalization. We believe investment in the South End has significant potential to help Rockland continue the transformational change that is strengthening the City, the community, and the Mid Coast economy.
