My journey began 37 years ago starting my private client career with Hoare Govett. I have since worked for HSBC James Capel for 16 years before moving to Brewin Dolphin. Until recently I worked for Tilney (now Evelyn), where I worked for 6 years as an Investment Manager. I have been managing Private client money for over 20 years and in a previous role at BD, I worked and managed a team of 6 during 9 years of service. In that time I have managed money for Corporates, Trusts, Pensions, Charities and of course private individuals.I pride myself in always thinking of clients first, which is more relevant than ever, given we are all going through an experience which is unique in our lifetimes. I also like to share my knowledge of past experiences with some of my younger colleagues, who may not of seen some of the market upheavals of the last 2 years. I have now taken a new role at Raymond James, where I am working with like-minded investment managers, who share my views and values on how private client money should be run.The industry as a whole has been gravitating towards Fund only portfolios, but in this day and age, I still feel there is a role for having direct equities in client portfolios, which can sit alongside Funds adding further diversification.
