    Co-Founder
    4 Rivers Services Jan 2016 - Present
4 Rivers advises law firms and claimants on third-party litigation funding, legal case management and law firm finance. We also advise on law firm strategy and mergers and acquisitions in the wider legal services sector. Single-case finance de-risks disputes to the benefit of the party bringing the claim, and portfolio funding can also be arranged to allow cash to be raised for claimants with multiple cases or law firms with value locked into contingency fee arrangements. 4 Rivers deals with a wide range of third-party funders and other capital providers to fund a wide range of disputes of different types and sizes, including commercial, professional negligence, insolvency and intellectual property cases. We deal with litigation and arbitration in most jurisdictions. 4 Rivers also has long established relationships with lawyers and attorneys, barristers, valuation experts, forensic accountants, e-discovery vendors, investigations companies, asset tracers, costs companies and other specialists in order to assemble the right team to enable third-party funding to be secured and/or a contingency arrangement to be negotiated.

This involved the coterminous merger of Kain Knight and a competitor business in the North West. I sourced the equity finance for the transaction from a private equity house and potential debt finance from two banks. The strategy was to grow the group to approx. £20 million fee income with 25% EBITDA within three years, to be achieved through organic growth, acquisitions, diversification and the development of bespoke technology to transform efficiency and margins. Heads of terms were signed by all parties but the transaction was subsequently aborted due to a change of strategy by the family shareholders.
