This involved the coterminous merger of Kain Knight and a competitor business in the North West. I sourced the equity finance for the transaction from a private equity house and potential debt finance from two banks. The strategy was to grow the group to approx. £20 million fee income with 25% EBITDA within three years, to be achieved through organic growth, acquisitions, diversification and the development of bespoke technology to transform efficiency and margins. Heads of terms were signed by all parties but the transaction was subsequently aborted due to a change of strategy by the family shareholders.
